Glad your getting it handled. Those gaskets...I just don't know. Hope they work great. I'm working on getting my tune as well, I just installed the same headers a couple weeks ago.

i had no problem getting to them. only use new GM gaskets torque from inside out 11lbft (132inlbs) then 17lbft. iv done 4 sets of headers on LS motors and 1 on the LT1 and torqued them to 20lbft and never had one loosen up.

I'll be doing this install soon, and have a few questions for the experienced ones.
Does Kooks provide the header bolts, or did you purchase new ARP ones?
If you purchased ARP, which ones?...part number please.

How often do you need to re-tighten after heat cycles?

Has anyone used the locking ARP header bolts...good, bad, ugly?

Is there a heat shield that can be used with the Kooks?

If ordered with Cats, do the Kooks throw a CEL?

Thank you!

i used ARP https://www.summitracing.com/parts/a...make/chevrolet 132inlbs then 20ftlb on new gm gasket. You should take it for a ride then re torque to 20. (mine have never loosened up and i dont use loctite.
headers dont come with heat shields but you should use heat tape DEI https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dei-010408
you have to tune for headers so you will get a light. until you do.

JCunningham, do you know if those bolts would work with Kooks Headers?
I don't know the flange thickness, but I'll contact Kook to find out...just wondering if you know.

Thank you for the links, I purchased the thermal tubes for the spark plugs, after seeing yours...good idea!

Has anyone tried these gaskets?

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...435898&jsn=439

Says it meets or exceeds manufacturer specs.

They also have the OEM ones.

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...435898&jsn=438

Trying to get all my ducks lined up prior to install of long tube headers.
