I came from a Mustang, and after 4 of them in a row decided to try something new. Test drove my 1LE and a scat pack challenger. The challenger feels like it has more torque from the start and IMO is more comfortable, but the body roll and general looseness of the car makes feels like an 90's Cadillac. I had actually decided on the Challenger because of the looks, comfort, options, and ease of getting in and out of it, but it came down to the size of the car. The Challenger is like 12' long and wouldn't fit in my garage with the way I currently have things arranged, and with my garage being pretty full, I couldn't find anywhere else to locate the beer fridge that would have had the Challenger's bumper right up against the door. If it was a Hellcat, I would have found a way to make everything fit

I cant speak to the engine parts buts I have owned both the challenger v6 sxt plus and camaro v6.....truth is for cruising the challenger is a very comfortable car and it was fun...but you have a convertible and you cant get that with the challenger. If the top up all the time doesnt bother you than I would suggest renting one to see if the size bothers you. It is a boat to park and the long hood makes swinging into spaces a bit fun.....otherwise, I can't knock it. I would probably still own mine if I didn't need to get my ex off the title (long story) Good luck with whichever you pick.

I know a lot of members on here daily drive their 1le but I’m kind of glad I don’t have too. My car is the most powerful most modern— greatest vehicle I have ever owned and Maybe ever will, but it’s just not practical enough in my opinion for daily driving. As always test drive the heck out of it before you make a decision.

Not necessarily every day, and of course a few stops here and there, but the point is we spend a lot of time in the car. I have never thought the Camaro was real comfortable, great car.....just not very comfortable. My wife thinks it's real comfortable. We're retired and even in my old age, I'm still a hot rodder. I never track the car, just love the feel of acceleration. Anyway, I like the looks of the Challenger, and am toying with the idea of getting one, and thought I'd ask what you think.
I have an SS stick, but just happened to stop at a Dodge dealer yesterday and looked at a 392 scatpak Challenger with a stick yesterday. Nice car. I would consider one if anything happened to my car, but I wouldn't give mine for one. Also I noticed that unlike our cars these engines snap when you rev them, unlike our cars that have that mushy slow hesitant rev. The throttle on the Dodge feels like a direct cable setup. Sounded better than our Camaros too. These 392 are 485 HP and come with the Tremec 6 speed. I noticed a much notchier shift. Ours is smoother like I like it. Not sure which model Tremec it was though.

Have seen Some comments about the SP exhaust. . I think they’re comparable to standard camaro exhaust, but not to npp. The latter IMO is much more impressive. Have always thought SP are quiet.

On paper and by the numbers, yes the Camaro should gap it and the 30hp extra the challenger has does not make up for the extra 500lbs of weight. But in the real world, and from what I've seen, it comes down to whichever car gets the better launch, mostly coming from one having better tires. The driver matter a lot as well especially if they are both stick. It's so close it usually goes one way one race, and another way the next race. (Stock for stock)

I personally like the looks of the Camaro far better. I just think it looks meaner and has more of a supercar look to it while the challenger just looks like an old muscle car. Not that it's a bad thing i just like the aggressive look of the Camaro better.

Imagine that?

Wait for the Gen 7.

I had a 2011 SRT 6m before my purchase of 2018 Zl1 1le.

I think for you description of long rides and cruising youll like the Challenger better.

I would look at the SRT for one thing...Adaptive suspension. The 3 mode Bilstien shocks give you 3 very very very distinct rides. Soft to hard with a turn of a knob.

I think the Scats can be sprung pretty taught depending on the model year so the better ride might be a wash compared to the Camaro SS.

Other than that you get a rear seat that actually can be used and trunk in the Challenger.

The Chally has always been bigger than the Maro and Musty even in their heyday.

For long rides its hard to beat the camaro for comfort. I mean the car just goes where you point it with little correction needed so that eliminates a lot of road fatigue. If you have lots of luggage and need space the Challenger is better. Can't comment on long trips.

A dealer in my area had a 15 scat pack on the lot in lime green. I think if it was my DD then I would have one for the comfort factor. Nice to have that 392 Hemi under the hood too!

I think the Hellcat/392 Chargers look pretty cool. Plus people will get over when you approach thinking you're Highway Patrol. lol

Around here and I'm not even kidding The Challenger model whether it's a V6, V8, etc you will see 10+ of those for every Camaro on the road..
