Just because there is data and tables present in the ECU that you can see with HPTuners doesn't mean it's enabled.
I agree with you and with that as a datapoint it possible that all the AFM hardware is in the engine, but it’s not enabled.

Even if electronically disabled the AFM lifters, solenoids, oil lines, and electrical
are in place, so there may still be an operating condition that allows oil consumption through the system. AFM Oil consumption on Gen6 Camaros has been recognized as an issue by GM.

I read that only the auto cars have the AFM, the manual cars had issues with jerking the car too much when in engages.

You read wrong. You are confusing SS and ZL1.

So is it your understanding that LT4 AFM is only used on C7 Z06’s?

Correct. Been stated in this forum for years multiple times. The hardware is there but it's not activated.

If the ZL1 doesnt have AFM, why do the Katech ZL1 packages packages include this?:

Package includes:
-Baseline chassis dyno
-Engine removal and reinstallation
-Rotofab air intake system
-Katech 103mm throttle body
-Katech 103mm supercharger snout
-Magnuson TVS2300 supercharger
-Katech AFM delete valley cover (disables Active Fuel Management)
...

I'll call Katech soon to answer this, they are the best in the business.

I see Katech created a LT5 with 1013HP. OMG, that is one nice motor. Katech does do good work for sure.

AFM=Active Fuel Management - 'Turns a V8 into a V4' to decrease fuel consumption.

NPP= Is the regular production option code for a bi-mode exhaust. Basically, provides an ability for the exhaust to be 'quiet' or 'loud' based on acceleration or drive mode (Tour, Sport, Track).

I have a friend who was dealing with Oil Consumption as well.

They determined it was from him being VERY active with the paddle shifting of his Auto.

He tried doing it less for a while and the oil consumption went away.

Not sure if this helps.

Very interesting. I do a lot of paddle shifting around the city myself. If that is the cause of my oil consumption I am happy to have to top it up 1 litre during oil change intervals. I will try and not paddle shift as much BUT I enjoy it too much so I know I won’t change my habits.

I seemed to have some oil consumption on a drive back from Laguna Seca. Waited 2 hours and topped it off, next morning it was over filled.

After refilling with 15w50, drove 140 miles round-trip to skidpad at Willow Springs Saturday and hooned it at The Balcony for 2 hours in 105 F temps, 0 oil consumption.

I'll never understand this car.

I have a new to me 2017 Camaro ZL1 6MT which used 6.5 quarts (10W40 Mobil1 Supercar) of oil for 3319 miles I drove it- that's a quart for every 510 miles.. Car has 17552 miles now and I bought it from Carmax and I bought maxcare as well. I took it to Carmax under their 90 day warranty and both time they were like it is normal. I really didn't calculate the amount until recently and now I know it's an issue and may why the previous owner sold it to Carmax. I drive it most of the time around 3 to 4k RPM and haven't taken it to track, drag strip etc. So a mix of city plus spirited in 50% sport 20% track and 30% Touring... Car is 100% stock what I can see.. no clue about internals but I highly doubt it is touched..

I asked a local Chevy dealer and they told me they can do an oil consumption test. The person I talked said they would document the oil levels every 1000 miles. He also said to tow it to the dealership if oil light comes on and don't add oil as they want to document every additions.

Can someone shed some lights on their oil consumption tests and how it went? If they find it is not normal, do they fix it or replace the engine?
