MM makes no claim as to how much it captures while Elite claims to remove 90-95%(?) of the problem. Neither will completely eliminate the problem but, both 'should' greatly reduce/slow the long term build-up of carbon/coking on the intake side. I say 'should' because until we start to see more of these motors hit the 30-40K mile range, it is unknown how much carbon fouling the LT4 is going to produce. There's a lot of anecdotal evidence flying around right now with just a handful of examples going both ways. Ultimately, time will tell. |

For you guys that have tried the CRC method, how are you applying the stuff? Doesn't running the engine with no air filter and/or MAF sensor in place throw codes? Thinking about this for my 38k mile Terrain.

Only mods are ported blower snout, 95mm TB, and CAI. I took the photos when the blower was off for snout porting.

I loosened the hose clamp past the MAF and snaked the straw that comes on the CRC can toward the TB keeping the air box and MAF attached. No codes and no issues.

I would have to imagine more of the product goes towards the front cylinders than the rear using this method? No concerns with breaking a whole chunk of carbon free (if it's really coked up) and sending it through the motor?

The blower will disperse the chemical evenly.... hopefully there isn’t enough carbon build up to worry about your second concern. Obviously can’t say for certain. I’m going to try it.

Service guy told me today that Chevy has a service they offer to clean the carbon build up and it's recommended to LT4 owners at 45k miles.

I wonder how much the service is. By the way, I see you traded in the 2018?
