I think I've done like 72 lol. I obey the laws unfortunately, very briefly and irregularly I'll hit higher.

On a side note, I'd be deathly afraid of breaking 200 MPH on anything with wheels.

This is way off subject so I appoligize but I am in the market for upgrading to an SS at the minimum. Well actually I'm really not sure of it because my V6 actually does have enough power to keep me happy but I guess it just doesnt scratch that V8 itch. Its stupid I guess because the V6 more than satisfies my daily needs.

But anyway here's my question.. When you traded your V6 how much did it depreciate and was there any negative equity going into the ZL1? Also.. What kind of down payment did you put on the ZL1 with your trade, or was the V6 paid off and used completely as the down payment or...are you just filthy rich and paid cash for it?

Just curious here.

I lost about 16,xxx in depreciation over 3 years of ownership (31,500 new vs 15,000 trade in).
V-6 was paid off. I also gave them 6000cash.
Not filthy rich by any means. I'm just not very smart and I really wanted that car. I had to juggle money like a mad man to make this happen.

Here's the kicker (and why many people say I'm stupid), I'm leasing the car.
With all the money I put down I'm only paying 347.00 per month.
At the end of the lease I will have to buy the car by financing 37,xxx (residual value).
Let people say what they will but at the end of the day......I'm driving a frickin ZL1! At my income level this should be impossible.

Wow! Some of you have hit some incredible speeds in your V6 Camaros. One of the fastest speeds I've ever gone was the 118 in my 16 SS at the track. I've owned a bunch of V8 and supercharged W-body cars, but never tried to hit a top speed.

98 Buick Regal 102 in the 1/4
99 Grand Prix 105 in the 1/4
04 GTO 104 in the 1/4
08 G8 GT 102 in the 1/4
12 Camaro LS3 108 in the 1/4
15 Camaro LS3 108 in the 1/4
16 Camaro A8 118 in the 1/4

I guess two things keep me from trying: I don't get a thrill at high speeds, only fast acceleration from a stand still or low speed, and I can't afford to get a huge ticket and possibly lose my job that I've had for nearly 30 years. My job requires me to travel internationally and some countries frown upon a felony which those speeds could bring depending on the state.

Ditto, there's no way I can risk being caught at those speeds. I save all that for the track.

Couldn't afford the payment to buy it outright.

I enjoy my license too. So i dont get caught doing anything I'm not supposed to. Then if i say online that i did something i'm not supposed to, i make up some BS story about how i did it somewhere that's legal to do so.

Interstate, DPS troopers everywhere. 80 is a challenge. Oh I hit 100-115 at times...but the fun is very short...
top speed on these is limited to 155 as mentioned above. Again you will never see it.
I also live in Dickinson, and you must be the most scared driver in the world if you claim 75 mph is any kind of fast around here. Interstate 45 is right there passing through town, get on it and set the cruise at 75 and start the video and you will be getting blown off the road by practically everyone. A challenge to hit 75, give me a break! I can hit 140 to 150 easy and maintain 110 to 120 all I want for mile after mile except in the morning and afternoon rush hours. I routinely run 85 to 90 to 100 all around this area without issue.

Maybe you should get a Prius.

the normal speed on highways is about 80 around where I live.

I've been north of triple digits when the road empties out ...which is rare. Never took it to top speed though. Never really cared to. Top speed is far less practical and interesting than high acceleration at all the speeds that matter (0-80).
