As said CARFAX is not always accurate, more so if the prev owner paid had the repairs paid for out of pocket and not thru an insurance claim.

I removed the door panel on my car recently, they are completely painted inside and out.

Looks like it was replaced.

Since the dealer you bought it from won’t stand behind the car. then my advice is to take it to a good independent body shop in your area and let them check it out. Good luck!

(See attached photo.) They are saying because of this, the fitment on the door isn't correct, causing the leaking. I bought the vehicle used, so I don't know if this is the original door or not, but I don't recall seeing anything on the Carfax relating to the passenger side. I'm trying to confirm this theory. Does anyone know if for sure the door would be completely red inside and out if it was the original? Help greatly appreciated!
I don’t know if I’d be successful, but I’d be all over the seller, with a latent defect claim. Any decent dealer (stealer) would make it right. Doesn’t matter that it’s been over a year. Talk nicely in a non threatening manner. I’m assuming it wasn’t a branded title. Good Luck!

I have reached out to the dealership that sold me the vehicle. Will update you with their response.

From my experience in working in bodyshops a decade ago, these parts come in an e-coat. That e-coat used to be pretty much black. Also - the factory doesn't paint each and every body panel completely. They will save paint (hence money) where they can so if the inside of part of a door that is never seen doesn't have to be painted (for example), they won't paint it. I'd ask them to take the trim panel off the other door for reference and compare.

100% take the other door panel off to compare.

Is it difficult to remove the door panel? Or is something pretty much anyone can do? I'd like to remove the driver's door panel and compare, but I don't want to break anything.

removing the door panel usually ends up breaking at least one of the clips (at least the service manual says it's one-time use)

But otherwise it's perfectly diy.

Have you inspected under the car for other damage? It sounds like your car was broadsided in the driver door for the unibody to have been tweaked like that.

If the door has been replaced and it's not an actual part failure what do you want them to do?

If you unknowingly sold someone a car that had previously been hit would you "stand behind it"?

Car fax is only good if the body shop reports to them. Mine don’t.

My wife’s XT5 was hit a while back. This is a car that we ordered from the factory. When we got car back from body shop they showed me a picture of a part that was painted a different color on the side that was covered up. They said after we told them it was never wrecked. He said some days they run short of a part and paint another color to your color. Ialso got a 68 Ford that came from the factory. It had one front fender replaced due to a wreck because underside sheet metal still had wrinkles in them.

ELPO at the assembly plant is a light brownish gray color. All of the service parts I’m aware of are black like the door on your car. Not saying it’s been repaired but it looks like it’s a replacement door simply because of the color not painted.
