Question Dealership Says Not Factory Door??

Took my 6th gen vert into the dealership to investigate why water has been leaking in around my passenger window. They took the door panel off and told me that because it's not completely body colored on the inside (garnet red), it appears this is not the original factory passenger door and was probably taken from a black Camaro and painted red. (See attached photo.) They are saying because of this, the fitment on the door isn't correct, causing the leaking. I bought the vehicle used, so I don't know if this is the original door or not, but I don't recall seeing anything on the Carfax relating to the passenger side. I'm trying to confirm this theory. Does anyone know if for sure the door would be completely red inside and out if it was the original? Help greatly appreciated!

Man dealerships will try anything and everything to deny warranty work on vehicles.

I think the primer color is more of a beige tan. So maybe they are right.

Pull the panel on the other door and see if they match.

unfortunately you find that Carfax is not always complete and accurate. Contact place you bought it from.

Adjusting a door can be tricky, but not that much. Why they won't do it on warranty is BS.

EDIT: Aren't there VIN or ID numbs stamped on these?

I will try contacting the dealership I bought it from, but I doubt I'll get any help from them, since I purchased the vehicle over a year ago. The dealership that looked at the car said that I need to take it to a body shop, because if you move the door up to fit better around the window, it opens a gap at the bottom for water to enter.

Wouldn't that indicate frame damage?

The door is a door. They're the same size for all Camaro's.

Yeah, he said they probably need to adjust the frame to better fit the door. I don't know what that entails, but is sounds pricey.

I wouldnt believe carfax

I did a carfax on my honda accord and it has no record of an accident.

However I was in an accident years ago where I had to replace my bumper and trunk.

Yeah carfax doesn't have everything on it. I had a 2010 Civic Si that got sideswiped and when the body shop did the work it had bondo on it and had been repainted from a prior accident, totally clean carfax.

No they not, the only time the car is dipped is for the EPO coating, otherwise the cars are sprayed by robotic painters just like any body shop would do other than the use an electrical charge to draw the paint to the panels.
