When I reassembled my motor with your smooth idle cam and LT4 HPFP, I did not use a lash cap. As a sanity check, I mounted the pump with the mount bolts loose – maybe .10 from tight. When the pump lifter is on the heel of the cam lobe, the pump is sitting flush with the block with no gasket. Is this normal? I was expecting to see a few thousands gap so that I would have a slight preload when installed.

No lash cap required with our cams.

Man that radiator issue sucks. Take your time and get it right so you can let it eat.
