I think the design looks pretty cool, but I have no interest in it since there is currently no plan for a real manual with 3 pedals.

For me, my ZL1 is my 3rd vehicle. A want, not a need.... So, for me, my toy must have 3 pedals. So, if there won't be a 3 pedal C8, then I'll never own one.

I would not even consider an automatic myself in that car . I would say we will see a manual trans ,they are already stepping on hallowed ground putting the engine behind the driver ,not having a manual may put too many over the edge.

...with twin turbos and a V8 assisted with an electric motor... ala Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. Electric and Corvette are two words that don’t belong together. Ever.

I've actually been holding off spending money on mods just in case it ends up being bad ass enough to drop the extra coin on it.

LMAO!

Your response made my day and I immediately remembered the article to which SteveV was referring, which, as we know, was posted on April Fools Day. I've often wondered who actually believes such articles . . .

Don’t be surprised if there is no manual. Chevrolet is bring out a new dual clutch automatic for the mid engine and right now not much has been said that there will be a manual.

With this type of shifting speed there is no need for a archaic manual transmission... well I guess maybe for the guys who like to play with their sticks.

No matter how good that automatic is its still just an automatic and its not what I'm looking for in driving , they just add to much distance between mankind and machine . From what i been hearing tho it will have a 7 speed manual available but it may be a wait to get one . A friend of mine waited 6 months to get his Porsche with a manual . I would much rather drive with a stick in my hand then be driven around in my own drivers seat with a cell phone stuck to my palm.

A couple of Corvette folks I know say there may be a front engine C8 built but I haven’t seen anything to confirm that rumor. One might be built for 2 years or so for the Corvette diehard owners that want a traditional front engine layout. Seems like Chevy wouldn’t build 2 different C8 models just to satisfy some of the Corvette owners. IMO though the Corvette was never intended by Chevrolet to be owned by the masses and will always be a model that has a specific following of car enthusiasts. I am a Camaro faithful and have been since my first owned 1982 Z28 and plan to hold on to my 2017 ZL1 even if a 7gen Camaro is built!

And yes, like it or not autos will be replacing manual transmissions totally in the coming years. It’s bad for us diehard manual folks but that’s life and the future! Like was said people want to be able to multi task in the vehicles and can’t do it if they have to shift gears. The new Mustang GT500 is an example of an auto trans only now. That knob on the console looks out of place to me though and doesn’t fit the performance aspect of the car. Just turn the knob to a gear and go. It will have more hp than our ZL1 Camaros and Chevy will have to play catch up again but it’s okay with me. At least I can shift with my 6 speed!

This.

Looks like GM is taking all their cues for the C8 from the high end Euro SuperCar field.
-Styling
-No more manual... NO MORE! All auto with paddle shifters
-Electric assisted V8 engine
-Twin Turbo boosted (no more supercharger)

These are all things the Ferraris, Lambos, and friends have been doing for years. But I'm not sure why they are trying to compete or target that market share of prospective buyers? People shopping for Ferraris, Lambos, McLaurens, are not cross-shopping Vettes. Maybe some small portion of car collectors that own several of each... but ~80% of people are expecting something different based on the history of the Vette.

Maybe I'll just wait for the all electric Green-Friendly C9... speed limited to 85 MPH with auto pilot. Look ma... no hands!

This thing is going to be epic, esp. in Z06 or ZR1 trim. Maybe I'll pick up a lightly used C7 Z06 after the new Z06 is released and prices drop on used C7s...Hmmmm, decisions (except I still need a back seat for some years)...
