That’s how I feel about my ZL1! It’s definitely a keeper for me too as long as I can drive it. I bought a used one because I couldn’t afford a new one. And I saw it was a 2017 the 50th anniversary of the Camaro and first year for the ZL1 6 gen!

I’m debating on used/new. If you can find it with very low miles and save a good amount of money?? Why not? It makes me nervous how that person drove it though.

Everything seems to be good with mine. I have over 1400 miles now and it runs good and everything works. It still has 15 months on the 36 month/36,000 mile warranty so if an issue shows up I will take it to my local dealer.

I didn't read all 15 pages but here is my .02...
Tell your wife how much you want the car and that you want her blessing on purchasing one because you value your relationship.
My 2017 ZL1 has 12,500+ miles and no issues except my face hurts from all the grinning.

She has agreed to let me buy anything I want! Whether that be a ZL1 or a 2SS. Still undecided! I ‘want’ a ZL1 but power, tires and insurance are making me second guess it a bit. I don’t know when I would use that much power! We’ll see!

If you don't get the ZL1 you will always wonder and second guess yourself...I know I would. I've made that mistake too many times in the past and have learned my lesson. Every time I rationalize getting the "cheaper" option I end up wishing I had purchased what I really wanted the entire time.

I'm a girl.

Let her drive it down the road and back, by herself, about dusk, still light but almost dark. Tell her to stop some where get out, look at it, and get back in. She'll be sold. If not she didnt drive far enough.
Good luck.

I know, I know. I keep going back and forth. I'm like, "well, I can just buy a beater car and drive that during the winter if it's too cold out to take the ZL1. Furk. It's okay, I got some time to decide!

Good idea! But, I don't trust her to drive that car lol. She has a lead foot and a propensity to slam on the brakes, bad combo. She scares me.

1. Have a pre-existing spending problem when you meet your spouse. Too late? See #2.
2. Marry someone that doesn't care about big spending. Too late? See #3
3. Point out how hard you work to provide for your family then point out how much you want a ZL1. She makes more money than you? See #4
4. Buy her something really expensive, then tell her how much you want a ZL1. Didn't work? See #5
5. Fight about it... Buy ZL1 while angry. (Not recommended)

Foolproof.

In my case #1 was already true. I would buy a new car every year or 2, so now I have to buy her a new car every year or two too. What's funny is, we just bought her a new car, and its the EXACT SAME CAR she had but it changed color...

I think for most it really comes down to how much the purchase will impact your finances. If the impact is high, then make a plan and work towards it.

Haha 5 was almost the option but I came to my sense!! Solid advice here. We did fight about the financial impact but we’ve agreed. I have a plan in place to save money and fight with the dealership until they get my payments to where I want. We’ll see, I have to save and watch for deals.

I convinced my girlfriend like this:
-It's my money.

Maybe that's why I'm not married.

Step 1. Find and buy ZL1 you truly want.
Step 2. Tell wife that you want to get home sooner, so you can spend more time together. Tell her how the ZL1 is just the needed tool to perform this task with its increased performance. (Say while crossing fingers behind back and handing her a dozen roses and some Fannymay turtles with other hand. All the while knowing any free time will be spent in the garage or on the road smiling and drooling at the same time.)
Road trips with the wife in a ZL1 make for enjoyable times too.

Now go forth and help stimulate the economy!
