I just found this post after watching your video on YouTube earlier today. Thanks for posting, that was fun to watch. Made me miss my non-ACR Viper! I haven't had my ZL1 on the track yet, but a Gen V Viper is an absolute beast and a blast to drive on the track. It's fun plowing through traffic like they are standing still and keeping up with race cars and passing them on the straights!

Fun vid! Viper is such a beast and to me one of the best sounding cars ever.

Nice driving (obviously) but also a good example of how not to work a steering wheel. Be it 10-2 or 9-3 hands should stay in those positions so a driver doesnt have to ever guess where the centre is. This is especially important during any big, or successive corrections should a car really get out of shape. Doing same with one hand (which results from shuffling hands on a steering wheel) is hardly recommended.

Here is an example of Nico Rosberg wheeling a Pcar at Silverstone (and obviously showing off a bit in the process). Note his hands do not move regardless how tight a corner is.

If we are talking about "mere mortals", this is my fave guy: Mike Skeen. Awesome YouTube channel too and very helpful learning proper lines and such. Tons of data from tons of venues and different cars. PS But i like to pay extra special attention to top echelon pros - nevertheless - woof

Amazing video! Honestly you guys aren't dead even when you are accelerating hard down that one straight 80-140. You're pushing the air and hes riding in the draft and not making up any ground.

Would love to drive that Viper.
Andrew Aquitaine is crazy fast behind any wheel he gets behind.
Track days are fun but racing is were you really learn.

Yep racing is on another level and even within racing there are many different levels. Yet any competition surely brings things up a good few notches from lapping.
Still even top pros do the latter to learn how to get the most out of the car at a given venue. Incl intensive use of sims. It is all good and all bags of fun

Yup....most of the guys that just "track" their cars are slow though. The more expensive the car the slower they seem.

My buddy is now heavily into racing. Went and did the Majors Final @ Sonama. He went and bought a sim to practice!

Yep id pretty much agree. OTOH i know a guy who totaled a new gorgeous Berlinetta...that would hurt big time

Sim is great: ive been on iRacing for a few years now and it is an excellent way to hone one's car control skills et al without any risks. Amongst many other benefits like practicing proper vision technique, braking, learning new venues, etc. Plus racing there is super fun, but very serious and time consuming as one needs to practice to be competitive. It really is a proper sim vs a game.

And It really is directly transfarable to RL driving. When spring comes i have zero transition time to my real car. Zero cobwebs. Zero rust. Just get in and push.
