I have a spare set of MMR replicas with Nitto G2's on it, in the stepped down sizes on the 19's. Those are what I normally use for any daily activity, which I daily drove the car for about 9 months. I needed the wet traction down here in Tampa, and the price was right at the time.

The car almost sits, now, basically, with the exception of some track time or the occasional meet. I would have purchased another set of the 3R, but I didn't want to have to buy ANOTHER set of tires for LS Fest.

So, here we are. I figured for < $300 a tire, it's going be worth giving it a shot.

I'll add in a little input from the information I've gathered on the S007A:

I noticed these mid last summer and only could find a little on them. I heard some mention that they are to be the RE-11/A replacement.

Due to the inadequate information, they quickly fell off my radar, but stood in the back of my mind as a possibility for use in some cheap endurance racing (i.e. Lemons).

While at the 2018 SCCA Solo Nationals, I stopped by Bridgestones tent/booth (very nice people, BTW). I asked the Bridgestone reps about what they have in the pipeline, if anything, for a RE-11 replacement as I loved that tire for a dual-purpose (street/circuit) tire and would be very interested in a newer offering. The reps told me that the S007A is basically the RE-11 replacement. Their explanation was that it was not originally supposed to be - it was supposed to be more of a Michelin Pilot Super Sport type of tire (a summer only, daily driver capable tire) and not really something you take on track, but it ended up being good enough to perform as well as the RE-11. They indicated the wet performance was really good and the grip was close to the RE-11.

I have been keeping tabs of reviews of this tire because 1. Bridgestone tends to come out with a very good variety of sizes and 2. their tires have very good value. So far, I am yet to be impressed... a lot of the reviews do not indicate they are as good as the RE-11. I think, mainly, this has a lot to do with the tread design: the tire does not have the ultimate grip or durability the RE-11 had (lack of flat surface area and should tread-block design).

As a summer only, daily driver tire, it seems to be a good value, but not as good as the Conti ExtremeContact Sport, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, or even the Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

The S007A is listed, per Tire Rack, as an "Extreme Performance Summer" tire, but, realistically, it is performing like a mid-range "Max Performance Summer" tire. It really does not seem to be in anywhere the league the other "Extreme Performance Summer" tires.

I could have told you that, based on how you value handling and turn-in.

Going to anything less than a Hoosier on a ZL1 1LE will be a downgrade.

Michelins are known for having softer sidewalls (especially compared to Goodyear, which has some of the stiffest sidewalls) and going do a max perf. summer tires (2 grades down from the 3R's). I am surprised you went there at all.

Curious what you don't like? Obviously they are not a track tire, but they are a very highly rated Max Performance Summer Tire. In fact, they are rated # 1 in the category and its not even close. I assume you are daily driving your ZLE? Try driving on those 3r's on a cool rainy Bay area day and let me know how that works out. I couldn't wait to get the GY's off and put on something with better grip for street. I save the GY's for the track. Thats just my opinion, everyone is different.

What class are you running that requires 200+. Some of them are okay with 100 if that's how it came from the factory.

You're right. Coming from a Potenza in the past, they do fit narrower because it has more of a circular sidewall in comparison to say the Michelin or Goodyear which has a square shape.

I have not tracked my car yet. I prefer to wait until I get 3 or 4k before doing that. I'm currently at 2k -- I'm in need of a road trip.

Tire feel is the downer.

The tire definitely grips better in the cold which is ultimately what I was after on the street. Ride feel is **maybe** slightly better but the difference is not really noticeable in my opinion. Every other measurable aspect is a step down.

Turn in crispness. Still excellent due to the rigidity of the body and suspension but whatever the contribution was coming from the stiff tire sidewalls and squared profile is now lost. These MPS4s are rounded at the corners and less stiff and you can tell. This is probably where the slight -- and I do mean slight -- improvement in ride is coming from.

Grip when hot is still pretty good but I doubt we'll see the +1.15g. Probably -0.1g compared to 3Rs (totally guessing from butt feel). Still a capable tire.

Feedback is more numb.

Having said all that, I did buy these tires for the street and if I had started with these from day 1 I probably would have been happier not knowing. The only downer is to go from the excellent (when warm) oem rubber to these and realize I'm letting go some performance.

Whatever, I do love the consistency. Cold, hot, on-it or not, these tires perform well and reliably. Compared to the oem rubber which was kind of all over the place, I would definitely recommend these over oem GoodYear Eagle F1 Supercar 3Rs for the street.

On the other hand, the Pilot Sport Cup 2s that came on my Z06 (Z07 package) worked pretty well in the cold and amazing when warm and still felt crisp. I might try those next time.

SCCA: CAM-C requires treadwear north of 200. There are not a lot of restrictions in CAM but 200 treadwear certainly can negate a lot of hp upgrades, which is probably the idea.

My personal view and is likely somewhat flawed is there really isn't a single tire that allow cars like these to be utilized to the higher levels of their capability and still provide adequate performance on the street in a variety of reasonable weather conditions. I found that you can have one or the other, but not both at the same time. I run the BFG Comp AS for road trips and anything off track. Great tire in poor weather conditions, great price when you can find them and reasonable performance capability when you get aggressive on the road trips, and of course all of that is subjective.

When I am in competitive mode, I bolt on the Bridgestone RE71Rs mounted on Forgelines. What a great tire for its intended purpose. Ran a large AutoX event this weekend. Every serious contender was wearing RE71's. When you want to take your car to the upper levels of its performance, that is the tire most seem to reach for. However you don't take that tire on a trip to the Coast, unless its on a roll back. Pretty much impossible to kill two birds with one tire, in my view.

I wrote them a letter and mailed it. I explained that the tires were not only poor performing, but I expected a little bit more life out of a stock tire. Granted, with the 1LE I can't have the same expectations, but they're probably good for 5-7k depending on the abuse.

Pirelli wrote me a letter back basically telling me to pound sand. Not even an understanding, let alone some sort of coupon or remedy, and hell not even a cool sticker!

So, I've been quite happy with the Goodyear, Hankook, and Continental brand so far.
Pirelli's are hard to choose from.. take for instance a P. corsa, there normal tire in that brand is 220 treadwear then in that same tread and design if you look hard you will see a specific tire for Lambo, ferrari, or A8 that have a 80 tw.. Run one of those you won't be disappointed maybe with wet traction and mileage but not dry traction. Lambo has posted the 3rd fastest lap at Nurburgring with crappy Pirellis.

Re11s were really all around good tire wet and dry.. the 71s even better dry grip worse in wet and a little louder.

Seems like the porches are still kicking butt with Cup2's though..

There is no magical tire I guess for all around driving still. People still praise the R888R and say they come close though..

I have a set of ACR viper kumho 295 30 19s and 355 30 19s im gonna try to fit the car with..

the backs are 1.2 inches wider but centered that's only 1/2 inch closer to the frame.. so will see
