It was LGR that did your rear cradle bushings right? How was your experience with their employees and opinion on their shop? I think when I do anything to my 1LE i'd like to go to them since they're so close.
Yeah, LGR. My experience with them was top notch. They are the real deal. Unless I need warranty work done at the dealer, I will only take my car there.

They also did my Corsa Exhaust and my Castrol SRF brake fluid flush.

TRZ06 - Wow! The internet can be harsh!

Thank you for the reply to my question. Your information on the bushings was useful and, since there are different budgets for different people and, with the amount of time I spend at the track, I think $1400 toward tires is better for the way I use my car. Interestingly, at the track, I did notice a slight inexact feeling when the rear suspension takes a set after turning into a corner; I bet the harder bushings take care of that.

Yeah, I am actually surprised about some of the comments, I figured most would appreciate the observations, but whatever, doesn't hurt my feelings none. The info is there for those who find value in it.

Regarding the cradle bushings, that is the reason I did them. I came out of a 2016 M3 that from the factory has the rear subframe hard mounted to the chassis and going into the SS 1LE, you could immediately tell there was rubber in the bushings back there. At first I thought it was the new tires and tread squirm that you get with new tires, but it didn't go away as the tires wore.

You really only notice it in quick lane change maneuvers, quick transitions, and high speed sweepers with less than perfect pavement and you have to make small corrections in steering to keep your line as you are chasing the rear-end around. It was the only weak point in the SS 1LE and the solid cradle bushings 100% took care of that. I can take a 100MPH sweeper with one hand now and the rear just follows with zero drama.

I just read through the ZL1 sub forum of this post. It seemed to devolve a few times there. I understand that saying anything other than extreme praise over a ZL1 would garner a neutral or negative response but, some of them just seemed quick to say that you only have a SS 1LE because you couldn’t afford a ZL1 1LE or if you simply drove any iteration of a ZL1, you’d be blown away.

I’ve driven many high horsepower cars in my time—while I’m sure I would have thoroughly enjoyed a ZL1 and I could afford one just fine, I wouldn’t even remotely dismiss the SS 1LE in a sheer performance aspect. I think a well set up 1LE would satisfy even the most staunch driving enthusiast; especially after a few bolt ons.

I just see it as, he test drove a car with track suspension and track tires that can be street driven. He didn’t take it on a track or probably even drove it long enough to actually heat the tires up and truly see where it’s designed to shine (on the track). He street drove it, hence my recommendation that he should have drove a ZL1 without the 1LE package for a better comparison as he mentioned he made the right choice on his car. And he replied “haters gonna hate” in the ZL1 area, no hate here I can assure you. I understand the folks who defend the SS 1LE, best bang for the buck Camaro, awesome rims and rear spoiler, awesome car, that is made for the street with track capabilities. It’s ok to disagree, we all have Camaros and that’s what matters.

Totally agree with your statement. 500 HP is more than enough for the street. 1LE is perfectly balanced.

I don't know why some people get so defensive. Zl1's are faster and more powerful, zl1 1le's are the best track car but not the best street or dd car, ss 1le is the best bang for the buck plus best balance and sweetest driving of the line up.

1le guys defend the value of the 1le which is true but some people don't care about that especially if they aren't budget limited. Zl1 guys tout the power which is also true but then claim that they drive the same because the suspension is the same ignoring the 1le is lighter and better balanced.

Also shouldn't be so quick to assume what someone can or can't afford due to the car they drive, especially being that a loaded SS isn't that far off a used zl1, people do have preferences regardless of budget.

People also still choose some cars based on looks as well. To me, the ss1le and zl1 look awesome, but if you aren't opposed to things like the big wing and canards, the zl1 1le is the most aggressive impressive looking one of the line up I'm.

This is true. Honestly I chose my 1LE over an SS because it looks way better to me. I will probably not road course this car, but don't really care that it was built for that. It would have cost me more to make an SS look the way I wanted it to than just buying the 1LE (based on the price I paid). I don't really intend on changing anything appearance wise with this car and I know if I got the SS I'd be fighting it every day to make changes to the wheels, brakes and aero stuff. In addition to that, I received the extra handling upgrades in case I do end up tracking it later on.

While I would love the extra power, the ZL1's were going for 10k more, and for me, I'd rather spend that upgrading what I have to exceed the performance of the ZL1. I don't care about the warranty or exclusivity aspect like most seem to around here. I wanted a good looking car that I can work on myself to get to the performance I want...all for less than what a ZL1 would have cost me. It seems like a lot of people here have shops do the labor for them, which is completely fine. If that was the case for me I may have chosen a different route given how expensive some things can be for these cars (ie. heads/cam labor).

Long story long everyone is entitled to their own choices and there's no need to criticize or be rude to someone for expressing that choice or opinion. Unfortunately this is the internet where everyone has everything, can speak 5 languages and has at least a million dollars in their bank account at any given time.

Yea he or it nowadays has problems, I sooooo wanted a ZL1, but for the simple fact I will never use the extra 200 hp on the street. I was honestly sad when I was looking at the ZL1 as I was signing the papers for my 1LE. If only my wife had a job lol. But a week In with the 1LE and I am soooooo happy, car is solid and tracks wherever I point it.

Yes the 1le looks like what I would have done to an SS to get it to look like what I wanted it to look like. Like you I wanted to get it just right from the factory. The stance, wheels, splitter, and spoiler are just awesome. I prefer the zl1 grill a tad, but the 1le splitter and spoiler just do it for me, and it looks more stanced for whatever reason.

And I enjoy spirited driving carving corners so the 1le is nice there, but the only track I go to often-ish is the drag strip. So the look kind of took priority over all the suspension goodies and esld. Still they're nice to have along with the zl1 low side pump and fat grippy tires.
