The SS 1LE is the trim that attracted me to the Camaro but I ended up buying a V6 1LE instead. I felt like the SS 1LE is not well suited for what I do most. On a tight, curvy mountain road, the extra power of the v8 is mostly unusable. And when the road opens up, it's too fast IMO. Redline in 2nd gear and it'll be at 80mph. Redline 3rd and its at ~110. I like to speed but I don't like to be too irresponsible with it. It seems like the SS really needs to be on a road course to be enjoyed (unless you give zero f*cks about speeding excessively).
The V6 is fast enough to be enjoyable on a curvy road and slow enough that I can run it hard through a few gears (1-3) on a public road without worrying too much about breaking triple digits. If I did more road course events, I would have went with the SS 1LE hands down.

As for being harangued about it not having a v8; yep, it'll happen. Most people will assume it's a V8 anyway (not many people outside of Camaro owners / enthusiasts know the visual differences between the LS/LT and SS), but when they ask about it and you tell them the truth, every 3rd person will mention how they could never own a Camaro without a v8 or something to that affect.
I bought a '15 SS convertible and don't regret it, but being that it's never been to the track, it hasn't ran at its true capability. I love long trips with twisty roads, but as you mention, it's more power and weight than necessary for that sort of driving. I believe the 275 HP, 295 lb-ft torque and 3,354 lbs of the '19 2.0T 1LE seems the best suited Camaro for it.

Bet he still pulls on you. Even at 5200lbs. You are going to have to Google how you could beat him.

Nope...I just didn't want you to damage your google reputation since that maybe all the race experience you got.

The question is... to race on his level do you need a PlayStation 4 with a race game load? Let's keep it fair for him.....
OK, I'm just joking. A sense of humor is something that is in short supply around here

One thing I've learned from this thread.
It is good to know there are people on the forum that are mind readers who can confirm it is ZL1 envy that might cause an opinion to differ from theirs on a subject. I keep thinking it's more the people that made the comment that has ZL1 / Z28 issues.

You still avoided when I asked what your car ran. You too ashamed? Or did you google what the V6 cars ran and got embarrassed?

The **** does googling the specs on a Jeep have anything to do with what your car runs? What does your car run? I’ve been drag racing for 21 years, I don’t need to internet drag race. If you’re going to come into a thread and down cars for having a V6, I’d like to know what your modded V8 runs. So either speak up or go back to the 5th gen forums.

Look at my posts. Its not the car. I'm commenting on owners comments. Not once did I say anything bad about the v6 Camaro...5th gen or 6th gen.. I commented how I have friends with v6 Camaros. Nice try.....and you don't have to justify anything right? Join the club . You don't dictate who comments where. Your not that important. I joined somewhere around the point of discussion old school muscle vs mini van I believe.

So your SS with headers, TB, tune, intake, gears, converter, and radials runs within .8 of a bone stock 6th gen V6. Thank you.

Your comments stated with “all the V6 drivers” couldn’t handle a muscle car on the dragstrip. My point was don’t down an entire group of people based on the engine in their car when your “superior” V8 car is barely any faster.

Deesiel678's post is one of the most commonsensical in this thread. How fast a vehicle can reach 60 mph or how quickly it achieves the 1/4 mile is a part of the driving experience, but it doesn't create the experience as a whole.

There are mullet wearing, backwoods, cousin marrying Camaro owners who live by the edict that a vehicle must be American and have a loud V8, but technology is proving that similar to those owners, that mentality is passé.

Stock for stock, a 2.0T won't beat a V6 and a V6 won't beat a V8. It doesn't make the V8 the best vehicle though. The appearance of all three is similar, so ultimately it depends on the driving experience that the purchaser is seeking.

I bought a V8 and I'm pleased with it. It isn't better than someone else's car, but it's the best for me.
