I think most of the reviews I've seen refer to it handling "like" a sports car they didn't classify as one. Last time I read anything reguarding Sports cars they fell under a two seater.

That is funny.. Most Mags compare the Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger and competitors... If we are talking about sports cars wouldn't the Corvette be in the mix when doing comparisons?

Those 70s and 80s cars you mentioned were not muscle cars. Those years hp and compression was at a minimum and just a shadow of their former selves. And yes I do agree that the 60s muscle cars were a completley different experience. The modern 4 banger #s are impressive but I have owned and driven 60s muscle. They compare more with the current SS. The problem is they could not make use of the power/efficiently get the power to the ground. They had great low end tq. But the 4 bangers, 6 and current v8 will blow them away at top speed. Many of them were only geared to 115 to maybe 140 depending on rear ends. Now the Hemi had a pretty good top end. The 4 and 6s today lack tq. They shine better mid to upper range. |

Sure they would spin at 65. The same day I got my 69 383 RoadRunner in the mid 70s. I was driving it home. The road were a little damp. I was on the highway and goosed the throttle just a little and felt the rear slide. I drove super safe home after that until I got used to the car. I should have kept it, but still like my SS better. |

Some cars can be considered to be in multiple categories. A BMW M5 can be considered a Luxury Sedan and a Sports Car Sedan. A Challenger can be considered a Large Sedan, a Muscle Car, and in some configurations, a Sports Car. Both Mustang and Camaro would be considered Sports Cars and Pony Cars. If you go into R.L. Polk registration data, Mustang and Camaro are both listed as Sports Car. Challenger is listed as Large Car.

The 1975 Trans Am I had in the day was pretty fast for the times. I got to drive a lot of my buddies cars on the weekend taking turns cruzing and drove some cool old Muscle from the 60s back when I was young.
