So I walked outside, called Chicago in their parking lot and bought the car over the phone. They called me a few days later begging me to buy it for 68k. They were just a little too late lol
That Dealer is right down the street from me here in the burbs of Chicago.

They usually have some sweet deals on Camaros: https://www.phillipschevy.com/new-in...anchor-model-4

I could have driven it down to Florida had you told me. Maybe not in good shape, but eventually I would have made it.

Can't wait to see it detailed.

Agreed about New Smyrna Chevy. I posted about trying to buy a 19 1LE from them a while back. Its a wonder they stay in business. Congrats on the new ride.

They're a joke. Glad you didn't buy from them! Manager wouldn't even come talk out to talk to me. Thank you very much! So glad I decided to get one!

Awesome ride, welcome aboard. I can't stop playing with mine. 500 miles so far...already picked up a bolt/screw somewhere on the front tire. No flat yet, but I ordered the Michelin PS4S and they should be here early next week.

Have fun driving that beast!

Oh my blessed Lord. I just had the exact same experience and the dealer was the biggest liar on the planet. His whole schtick was ridiculous. I think somewhere I posted it but maybe I chose to wait to see how they handled the issues. So, in the favor of others who might be considering this dealership, I will post the story.
I looked for cars here is CA. I found some but, like Ksmith above....many wouldn't deal below a certain number and I was only asking to match what one dealer offered. It was a white Zl11LE which is why I didn't buy it. Anyway, decided to try scouring around like I did for my Shelby gt350 and low and behold, I found on in Phoenix...close to where I found the 350. We negotiated a good good price and made a deal. I was to fly out and pick it up, but he said the fees to drive it off lot and shipping were very similar so I opted for shipping. All during the process I wanted the car delivered ASAP, just a kid looking at a christmas present!! They promised to move fast...but paperwork took forever, sent it to the wrong address overnight. Then they promised to ship on a thursday...then said it was going out on Fri,,,but when I spoke to the truck driver he said it was always scheduled for Sat... Ok, so no big, just get me the damn car. They were going 'open' ship and I paid more to get Enclosed ship. Keep in mind the whole process was sucking. I even got the finance mgr calling me to clarify details.
Then he did bad.........he says. 'now you understand , this is a LIMITED warranty? Ah, yes sir I do. "well that means anything installed incorrectly, recalled, or ??? is all they cover". I said what if I drive and something breaks or etc, they have to cover that, don't they?. "no they don't, they can argue and debate if they want". (Now keep in mind, I am a car guy, know more about these cars then the salesmen do, so I just let him continue). I asked ..what about the 3/36 and 5/60? 'oh, that is not full coverage, but if you want full I can provide it for you for an EXT WARRANTY at 3k". Then I dropped the hammer.....I said do you realize you just lied through your teeth, and told me a complete non truth? He stuttered a bit and then I said.....listen, don't bother to ever tell anyone that bull shi$ , since it is not even remotely true!! 3/36 is bumper to bumper and other than tires, brakes , wipers etc...it's all covered. The 5/60 is full power train. So I want you off my purchase and get someone I can trust, you are not my guy"
Then, after all this BS, the car comes, I wait for the black diamond to back off trailer, and out comes the car looking like Ksmith. I was right at the boil points. Water spots on windows etc. Took to my detailer and it was....wait for it....gonna cost $1,700 to bring back...(if) he could. I am a long time customer so I got $700. Dealer said he would pay for it along with some mats...whoopie do!!! we called him with the cost and he offered 200. The GM go on phone and offered 500. Art said it won't cover enough. So I told Art to go forward, had them send the check (1 day mail) . The reason so expensive...is the paint correct, waterspots everywhere, engine bay, wheels, everything and such. I picked it up yesterday and it, indeed, now looks like the Black Diamond. My agreement with dealer was ...'you take care of my issues and I will be silent and accept it" They didn't keep the agreement so Now I am calling GM, posting on all forums, as well as their review site. BTW...their reviews were almost 75 to 80% terrible service, bad liars and never respond! Gateway Chevrolet Avondon, Phoenix. see for yourselvers. Now it is at the local dealer getting complete over look to be sure something isn't wrong, like the rear TPMS in need of service.
I am sorry for the long post. I am a pretty relaxed person and I do business in real estate so I understand how things can go. Not always perfect but honesty is a policy with sales , regardless!!! I would not have a job if I worked that way.
Good luck with your car Ksmith. My car is exactly like yours...black and beautiful.

Such a beast of a car and can not wait to start modding it. I will be posting the build progress on my insta- Ksmith_zl1

Let me know what you guys think!
I tried to buy that exact car the same time as you. I was trying to negotiate the deal while I was deployed so there was a time delay and by time they realized I was serious they had being finalizing the paper work with you. It was a great deal and glad it went to a good home. I finally found another great deal and just put a downpayment on it. Same color and options so in the end I still ended up with what I wanted. Look forward to seeing your build progress.
