Yes, I get all of that. The big dif in the KBB calculation is the $5k in options and $3k for low mileage. I would take it. The dealer would have to resell your car for at least $30-32k. Good luck with that but not your problem!

Doesn't that caravan estimate state trade in credit? Would they give you that amount if you're not buying another car from them? I suspect they hike up the trade in since their used retail prices are also high so it's a wash.

Ditto. When I was recently searching for a 16 or 17 SS vert, I noticed that Carvana was high. It’s a new business model but I ignored it.

I wouldn't spend that kind of moeny on a vehicle that's been in an accident and I think many people feel the same.. Plus one should be able to pick up a clean 2016 2SS for 30k.

BTW, when I bought my car last week, you should have heard the B.S. that I got when I refused to provide any referrals. I even got a talk from the “business development” manager. It was so ridiculous that it was funny! When will these idiots ever realize that word of mouth is how you build a local business. The Carvana model is an example of how to take these humans completely out of the process. Go figure!

No. Carvana buys your car even if you don’t buy from them similar to Autonation. Get Me the VIN is different as they don’t have cars to sell, the simply buy yours.

95% of Carvana customers receive the estimated value. The offer is good for 7 days. As long as you were truthful when you got the estimate, the value received is good.

I’m not in the market to sell mine. I enjoy it too much to sell, but for those saying that the value isn’t there or that it’s impossible to trade/sell for X amount, that’s just ridiculous.

Carvana does update their quotes often. I believe I got the first estimate sometime last week. When I popped in to get the screenshot above the estimate had to be refreshed, and it had gone up to $27,781.

The original question was how much would he car be worth since he had front end collision damage just as my ‘16 had major front end damage also. Because of Carfax now things show up when the Vin number is entered into the system to check a vehicle out. Any collision damage will devalue a vehicle if it’s reported to Carfax so a person can’t expect to get top dollar for a trade in or sell outright. And I know in my case when I want to get rid of my Camaro by trade in or selling that I won’t get as much for it as I would if it was a clean no accident damage reported car! That’s why I told Kevin if he could get 24 grand for it then in my opinion was a good price! I wish him luck.

I just bought a 2017 1SS vert at a local dealer for $23,998.
1SS is a base model for the SS plus how many miles are on it, condition and other options play a big factor in value

Whether it was your fault or not makesno difference. If your car is wrecked it’s wrecked, unfortunately.

For comparison, Carmax offered me $26k for my better than new condition 2018 1SS 1LE with 3k miles, PDR, paint corrected, polished, rock guards, perfect. A Chevy dealer offered me $26,200 trade in towards a C7 GS. Lol! Talk about depreciation. I knew it would be bad but not that bad. So bad that I am putting zero more $ into it. No tint, no mods, etc. Could be regional too.

It depends on the dealer. Some higher volume dealers just don't care about any accident that isn't major, even if it's reflecting on a Carfax. Also, some don't pull Carfax; they use Autocheck. What may appear on one may not appear on the other, it depends on whom it was reported.

Sister-in-law just traded in a 2011 Honda Accord v6 EX-L. It was not in good shape. It was in an accident before she bought it that showed on the Carfax. Since she has had it, which has been four years, it has been in an additional three accidents, none of which were significant. Rear bumper has been replaced at least twice. The front bumper was replaced once. No dents but it certainly had dull paint and a few chips and scratches. She owed $5K on it so I told her that if she breaks even or banks $500-800 that it would be a good deal. She wanted a 2018 Hyundai Sonata. 2 dealerships about 2 hours apart had exactly one on their lots that was the trim and had the features she wanted. The first was in Silver Springs, MD (Washington, D.C. suburb) and is a high volume dealer. They did not even bother with the Carfax and offered her $7500 for the trade. The other dealer was in a small town (Hurlock, MD) that is out past Ocean City, MD. They immediately ran the Autocheck and Carfax, saw the accidents and offered her $4000 for the trade.

Like I said before, it's best to start online using Carvana, Get Me the VIN and Autonation where they appraise based on the VIN. It's an absolute certainty that they also run a Carfax/Autocheck. Use it as a base/starting offer or go to Carmax where they absolutely will lowball you.

Then get some estimates locally and maybe a couple outside of your immediate area. That'll give you the best idea of what you're looking at as opposed to taking it from a bunch of us sitting behind keyboards who aren't looking to buy your car anyway.
