The Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS in a 305/30R20 went from 10/22 to 11/16 to 10/26 availability on tire rack, so it should hopefully be available again soon. I'm going to go with that one and the 295/30R20 in the front as soon as both are in stock.

Well, I got my Amazon tires today and they look and smell great, while you guys are awaiting the Tire Rack to get stock I'll be tooling around on my Lexani May-Pops!

295s on The Front
Hi Davis1LE, I'm in the Atlanta area as well (Lawrenceville) with an SS 1LE so I am interested in the 295s as well. I have had multiple people tell me I would be OK with a 295/30/20 on the front but I have not been able to get the re980as tire yet. I can also get my finger in between my 285/30/20 and the strut bracket so I don't think 5 mm will hurt that much. Hope I can get something done before it gets to cold for the supercar 3s.

I tried to purchase the Bridgestones from Tire Rack online. They called me that day to tell me it would be at least 45 days before they had them in stock again

My car will be down for what I suspect will be a couple months.
Hoping this coming spring the Bridgestones will be in stock, or better yet some Michelins of the 305/30 flavor.

The Tire Rack has been saying two weeks since September. Well, I finally got the Chicom tires on, the shop said they balanced out better than most, a total of 5.75 ounces for the four wheels. I took them out for a spin this morning, of course, it's raining and blowing 60 mph so the roads are covered in leaves and pine needles. It was a little spicy for the first few miles with new rubber covered in mounting paste but they improved after a few miles. They are smooth and quiet on the highway, and the exhaust sounds a lot louder now that it's not being stepped on by tire noise. What impressed me is they clearly marked the light spot and the high with a yellow and red dot respectively. I had to take them to a BMW shop as they were the only shop with a machine able to deal with these tires and rims, a Hunter Revolution, amazing machine.

I noticed the same thing GAOLDGUY, all the retailers list it as a high performance all season but the Lexani site doesn't. It certainly looks the part due to design and tread depth, it may just be an omission on their part. I got to take them out today on dry pavement and am impressed, they don't have the absolute grip the F3's have when warm but they worked great in the rain and standing water. I'm in MA and it's getting cold here so I needed to make a move, it was 30 Tuesday.
When I first read about these I envisioned barefoot peasants in a back alley tossing old sneakers and tires into a cauldron over an open fire. After digging around Lexani is a long time rim manufacture for exotic cars that wanted to get into tire manufacturing, they built a factory from the ground up with the latest automated manufacturing. Check out the video of the factory floor, pretty impressive. Yes, they're from China but so is the iMac I ordered them with and its tier one. These guys list it as all season as most and have a live chat hit them up. -> https://www.carid.com/lexani-tires/l...-26052990.html Video of the factory. -> |
