Is there a secondary cat on these cars cus there is just no way the left side blew all the way back and got passed that crimped section. Where is the 2nd cat on these? Cus they could be the secondary right? Wherever that 2nd cat is, it has to be after the crimped section cus I find it impossible for this huge ass chunk to make it through that section. Remember, I'm still running a stock mid section. I know the front cats are gone, I don't have any. But, u could be right, maybe this was shit that wasn't cleaned out the first time I blew the front cats.

I fully expect that Matt would have replaced both high flow cats with offroad connection pipes from Kooks. There is nothing else downstream of that, other than dents in the pipe.

I made that mistake two ZL1's ago. Never again.... My IAT2 hit 250 and my 3" Corsa Catback stretched so much from the heat that one side actually fell off the hanger in the rear. One side blew all the way out the tailpipe and it was a good thing we tore it apart and checked because the other one was jammed in the X-pipe. ^^This... and check those O2 sensors too. |

No, we didn't replace the connection pipes. I'm running a full catless Kooks header (it was a catted header, but we blew em out and cleaned it out) into a stock mid section into a Corsa Axle Back. There has to be a 2nd set of cats somewhere. Matt text me just now and said that is prob left over cat stuff from the original blow out, but I'm trying to figure out the life of me how it got through that crimped part. Seems impossible to do so.

Damn. Yea, that's the crap that is now stuck in my Corsa Muffler blocking air flow at the split. haha. I'll have them check the O2's.

I just called ARH and they sent me the offroad pipes. I did save the old cat pipes in case I ever needed them for inspection. |

I'm thinking we need the secondary. If I knew for sure, I'd go full on x pipe, no cats.

Btw. Called Kooks. $1000 for their 3" X pipe, but they said it comes with all the fittings and there's no special install tricks as long as you have the Kooks headers. $1000. Thought that was on the high side, but they are swearing by it so.

Technically yes, but that is a visual inspection that I've never seen them actually do. I put straight offroad pipes on mine for better flow (no bumps), but if someone ever did ding me I could put the empty cat pipes back in and pass the visual. Never needed it though.

Off-road pipes to remove the cat section should be very inexpensive too. ARH gave me mine since they basically talked me into going with their new "improved" HF cat. |

When you put Headers on your car, you ditched ALL FOUR factory cats. Primaries (Which are packed and monitored) and the secondaries (Which are empty chambers and not-monitored) — all gone. What you got was a pair of High Flow cats, made by Kooks, that is packed and monitored and goes about in the location of the factory secondaries (Just behind the collector). When the Kooks HF cats blew out, the stuff went into your factory X pipe and crushed piping and managed to get pushed all the way out the Corsa. There's NO WAY for you to know for sure if there's more in the X or crushed pipes or Corsa baffling. Unless X-raying exhaust pipes is a thing...Your only option is to either hope and pray it's all clear and you don't burn something down. Or get an entire new setup. I would order the Kooks X pipe, that will bolt straight to your headers, and you should be able to use your now hollow connection pipes (Which are best of both worlds, passes visual inspection but doesn't have packing inside) and run that back to Corsa which you should blow out and see if you can get a snake camera down it. That's the setup for you. $1000 for the X pipe is right inline with what most Header X pipes are. |
