I did a ton of testing on this one thinking I could figure something out to beat the trans and hit the paddles just right but no consistency.
I agree and do the same. The lowest gear isn't always the best. The blip puts it in the best gear for the hit. Of course all my testing has been stock, but it looks like more power would just make the lowest gear even worse due to an almost immediate upshift when you hit it.

I'm with you guys, but I have to be in 2nd on a 50 roll, so blipping in Auto does no good. If I'm in 3rd against another 1000 hp car, I'm done. It's over cus I'm not gonna get em on the big end. 3rd gear on a 50 with the PC takes too long for boost to build. In 2nd, I'm on the hit and it comes on hard. Now, with a slower car, yea, I'll run it from 3rd on a 50. If I'm in 4th, hell no, it's def game over. haha. It's a different power hit. It's linear. My old set up hit hard in 3rd on a 50. It was impossible to do a 2nd gear roll on at 50. But with the PC, look at the dyno graph. It's a straight linear line so. It's a freight train tho in 4th and up once I'm on it. It's just keeps eating that pavement.

Just fyi. Just got back from Mexico. Whatever Matt did, he found something. In paddle mode. Track mode/Race 1 I think.

On the hit from 2nd gear on a 50, yes, I come up quick on 3rd, but I'm staying in the power band, but at that point on, it's hitting red line and automatically shifting up without hitting the paddles. I swear to all that is holy. I'm not moving it to Auto or anything. It's actually kind of cool. And the fkd up part is I had a guy from Street Car Video doing video with me and I should of had him do a video, but I was so focused on my runs, I completely forgot, but I have no reason to lie about it. It's the straight up truth.

So, if I have to, I'll get with Matt to see if we can set a time to get on the dyno to do a hit to show you.

Yea, we have no idea either. As a matter of fact, Matt brought it to my attention and I said, what did you do? He doesn't even know. We didn't mess with the trans tune yet. We'll mess around with it when he's free and see if we can figure it out.

but for now, this was my first night on this new set up. Good lord. There's alot of mad Z06 and Coyote owners tonight. hehe. I laid the wood. No superior gap jobs, but considering I'm a good 300-700lbs heavier than everyone out tonight, I'm proud of the Zl1 right now. Plus I was on my base tune. 1040 hp.

Glad to hear it's running good for you. Keep mowing them down and hurting their feelings. Lol!

I see what you're saying about wanting the lower gear after going back and looking at your dyno sheet. Looks like your peak torque is around 4800 and you're able to rev it to 7000? I wonder if that's what's making the trans shift even though you're in manual mode? Maybe there is some kind of engine protection feature that will force a shift once you hit a certain RPM. If so, you could turn your rev limiter down a few hundred RPM and it shouldn't shift until you tell it to, since you'd hit the limiter before making it to the forced shift. Just something to try if you get curious enough, but I'm sure you really don't care as long it's doing what you want it to. Lol

I know the A8 will NOT auto-upshift in manual mode (at least not mine). I too manually put it into 2nd at 50mph...then after the hit I slap it back over into auto mode.

The problem I have with the throttle blip is that it only stays in that "race-ready" gear for about 5-10 seconds, then it's back to cruising gear. Sometimes The race takes longer than that to start.

You're right. I always blip it into PSM, then pull it into manual until we go, then push it back to auto as soon as I hit it.

haha, woke up this morning to this....................I was on the way home and I told the guy with me doing the recording, u know...........it felt off tonight. Seemed down on power and didn't pull quite the same up top.............Well, I found the reason.

If photobucket wasn't down, I'd post pics..........looks like the hi flo cat on the left side blew out, clogging my exhaust completely.

I have no idea how that big ass chuck of cat crap blew all the way to the back, through the muffler and gets stuck right there basically blocking all air flow.

When we pull motor, we'll do trans tune and rev it to 7250, so that should help out big time. These Mustangs are revving to close to 8k with big power and we are shifting at 6500.

Damn you were running high flows this whole time? Man if I knew that I’d have been warning ya. NO cats hold up to PC level of boost or FI engines making serious power like yours. You need a whole new header back exhaust just to be safe. Running it with any clog can cost you your engine in no time. Once it starts to disintegrate, it will keep doing so. It’s not all done now that I can assure you. The fact that it made it through the x pipe shows how much pressure it was under. New X, probably new mufflers, and no high flows.

Well, yea, but I thought we had taken them out. I know on the right side we did, just figured Matt did the left. Guess he didn't. Yea, I was running hi flo cats. That's why I'm looking at the Kooks X pipe right now. But as mentioned, i thought we had gutted the cats off the Kooks, but guess the left was still on.

Taking it to Bumberras tomorrow to get cut out. I knew it fell flat on the big end. It lets me know I'm getting used to the car and am being able to pick up on when things aren't right.

What amazes me is his. How as that big chunk able to get pushed through the exhaust and get past the crimped section then proceed to go through the muffler? Haha, I mean, seriously. It doesn't make sense. That's a huge chunk right there. Unless there is another cat section on the stock piping before the Corsa Exhaust. I could of sworn we didn't have any cats up front.

I cant imagine Matt removed one cat but not the other.. Maybe it is a piece of cat that was just stuck in the mid pipe the whole time.
