They are all saying essentially the same thing, but... what is it they are saying? They are being critical of others not thinking for themselves and conforming to "the masses", which they've then become.

People are going to continue giving you crap when they can see it visibly bothers you and they get a reaction. Sports cars and lifted trucks always attract immature people. It's unconventional to put a 4 cylinder in a Camaro or Mustang so you have to expect this reaction at some point. As time goes by it will become more accepted. After all, they are more powerful than V8's from not too long ago.

A. Casual car enthusiasts are window lickers. You'll get bros dogging you because you didn't buy the ZL1, while they have a Camry, but read Motortrend once on the crapper.

B. Any platform that has a higher trim spec means all the lesser are mundane from inception, according to everyone.

C. No car deserves respect. You can have the nicest ZO6 and some Ford loyalist will call it trash, then some McLaren will call you both peasants. Learn to sh!t talk or don't hang out with morons lol.

Enjoy the car. No need to race idiots to show them. Even if you beat them they won't accept it. Racing idiots is why Mustangs hunt crowds.

As for the 4cy, it’s old technology. Turbo or not. Certainly not the future.

If I had one, I'd say the 4 cylinder has three big selling points.
- Torque is greater and at the lower end. (284 lb-ft @ 5,300 rpm vs 295 lb-ft @ 3,000 rpm). You feel torque and torque is more fun. In the real world, HP is for selling cars only.

- MPG is much better than the V6 (22 city / 31 highway vs 16 city / 28 highway). That +6 city mpg difference with an engine making 275 hp is pretty impressive and applies to the real world.

- Wouldn't insurance be cheaper with the 4 cylinder, even if its turbo?

Unfortunately, (correct me if I'm wrong) but the 4 cyl is heavier than the V6 (3,448 vs. 3,354) so I wouldn't say you're saving weight.

On paper, the 4 cylinder is a better choice than the 6 cylinder. My guess is GM kept it only to satisfy cost on a base model and enthusiasts.

Without knowing for sure, i'm going to venture a educated guess and say it's an age thing. You will never change the minds of the 40+ crowd. For them/us sports cars have V8's, period. Now a days there are no rules - you can where brown dress shoes with blue or gray dress pants. You wont see many 40 or 50 somethings doing it.
And apparently you can have a "performance" car with a I4 or a V6. You can also mod a 4 door car now too - something we would never do in the 70's and 80's. OP sorry but you don't show up to a knife fight with a mini swiss army knife and expect not to be poked fun at. Sorry but you should have bought an older car with a V8 instead of spending all that money to mod the car after the fact to make yourself feel better about your purchase.

My 1LT 4 cyl. was 3,339lbs. From factory stock before i added bolt-ons and weight reduction. I know trim lvl and packages add weight so couldn't speak for others we are lighter than the V6 but not by a whole lot. It's literally the difference in half an exhaust and the engine 1LT to 1LT same trim packs.

It's easy to know the difference between a true car enthusiast and a mid-life crisis owner simply by how they treat other trim levels of the same make. I've met very few people who own a V8 Camaro who aren't enamored by what these 4 cylinder turbos can do. The few i have met that weren't nice had a mental deficiency only a baseball bat would be able to solve.
