Dyno day after ZZP tune!

Just finished flashing the zzp remote tune this weekend and been wanting to put it to the test and see if I got the 40 advertised hp. Been seeing a lot of conflict with tuning lately and I need to see for myself. So, this friday I have a dyno session tentatively scheduled to get an accurate representation of power output. I did dyno the car about a month ago and it put down 254 hp and 311 torque on a mustang dyno with bolt ons (CAI, zzp throttle body, zzp catless dp). The only change since then is the new tune and these up-coming runs with be on the same dyno to get the most accurate results.

Initial impressions are the car pulls nice below 4k but still feels flat from that RPM on. (Starting to wonder if I found the limits of the stock turbo). Drive-ability is very good but still getting the same 0-60 times. However this is probably my fault and I just need to re-learn how to launch the car. Can't wait to see what it does!

Results: Posts 9-11, Page 1

Conclusion: Post 29, Page 3

I do have my runs logged so if anyone wants to see them I can share the data. I'm not a tuner so still trying to interpret the sheets. However, its pretty obvious that revving the car past 6k seems pretty pointless. But then why do we have a 7k redline? There just has to be more power in this car somewhere.

Those are good numbers on a mustang dyne those are heart breakers for numbers. I would love to see what it would pull on a dyno jet

I would love a look if you don't mind. P.M. me. I just installed Vermont's 93 tune tonight, combing over data logs AIS. Are you still on track for dyno Tomorrow?

Also, you are correct about the 6k shift. At least the first couple gears. No one really talks about it but, most tuned LTG's powerband has shifted down a lot. I did a small vid in my latest build thread post, illustrating optimal shift points for 80% of tuned LTG's.

I'm still on for today. Car goes in for a 3:00 appointment. I should have some vids/pics up tonight. I'm really curious of what the car's putting down.

Tuned, my car would pull hard to ~6000-6200 and fall flat after that. I had to really work at getting the shift points to shift there, before I started playing with the trans it was shifting at ~6700, but there was no power there. The stock turbo is perfectly adequate to pull to 6 if the tune is good.

Well guys, not a good day at the dyno and the results are in. Stock tune showed 254hp and 311tq. Today best we could do was 239hp and 290tq with the zzp tune. That's a 15hp and a 21tq loss. Not sure what to really think about this right now. I'll have the new dyno sheet up shortly.

Here is the first dyno run on the stock tune. The bottom of the page has 3 sets of numbers. The first set is minimums, 2nd is max numbers, and the 3rd set is averages. Another thing to note is the darker the line on the chart, the older the run. ex. dark blue 1st pull, med blue 2nd pull, light blue 3rd pull. (The first run 311tq/254hp is with the cutout closed)

Today the best run was the 3rd which is weird because we just did a fun run with the cutout open. Still is pretty close to the other 2 pulls but you'll note that the torque curve is delayed more.

This is the 3rd attempt. Cutout open for sound points.

Not a surprise. You should have them compare stock to the zzp tune changes and you'll feel ripped off.

I'm trying to control my emotions right now because I paid a lot of money for this. One positive the tuner noted is that the performance curves are smoother. Negatives are obviously, no power gains and I lose the ability to run 91 octane. No wonder I can't break into my old 0-60 times. Another thing to note is the throttle demand seems to have increased. It's like an expensive throttle re-map. Currently debating on calling them on Monday or not.

Ouch.. I was NOT expecting that...

Really make me feel bad at the moment, I'm having such a successful tuning experience. I won't talk about it much here, but the very first base 93 tune Vermont sent me to log (in preparation for the FLEX fuel) yielded a 19.6% increase in TQ at the very MEAT of shift point drop (4500RPM's)..

Also, AIT was 16 degrees hotter..... 79 degrees stock VS 95 degrees Vtune.

Bear in mind, I am absolutely BONE stock, not a single bolt on ECT.
