Make your own.. its not too hard, but having holes and everything pre-engineered saves you hours of back and forth between CAD ( cardboard assisted design ) and actual parts.

Add in buying roll of VHB, material selection, do you use ABS, do you use polyethylene, nylon, etc tool to cut, shape, sand, file, etc.

We should all encourage people to DIY firt.. that way they can better appreciate a well made, well designed products. With that said, rear ZL!-addons rock guards fit piss poor with included spacers.. you'll need 2 x 1" spacers and longer bolts for better fit.

Yes, I deserve a slap for that one... I looked at the photo and had thought it was a photo of a set of guards at the front of the rear tire.

OMG---- Where did he find guards for the front of the rear wheels?

Ok, here is my concern.
Check out this video where he followed the included instructions while tossing common sense out the window.
Look at the gap along the guard.
It looks silly. This gap is going to fill up with all kinds of road crap.
You can see the lower screw.
Lock your video at 4:14 and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Rear can be made to fit better, but takes trip to home depot / lowes.

2 upper spacers - buy 1" long, trim to 7/8" long IIRC and then longer bolts - stainless so they dont rust.

They can be made to fit better but I see there is still some gap. Is that because of the different ZL1 bumper? These require drilling holes too?

I have the ZL1 Addons on my '18 1LE. They fit fine and they're wide enough, but they don't go low enough, at least not on the front. They end at the bottom of the rocker. So, lots of rocks will shoot under the rock guards and hit the lower rear fender. I don't know why they didn't go at least an inch lower. It would hardly be noticeable .

Hmmm... Mine does not have any gap like you see in the video. It has been several months since I did the install, but I used the provided hardware and all went good. Maybe there were some problems with the hardware in earlier versions that were worked out(?).

Gap is due to ZL1 1LE rear bumper aero - it wrap around edge of regular bumper cover.

I contemplated marking out the area and having it milled so it sits flush... perhaps another day. Too many model variations and trying to have common part fit all of them, some will fit well, some will require adjustment.

Why not just wrap it in paint protection film? I did my rear quarters, doors, front fenders, and rockers and it’s fine. Also did the front bumper as well. Way nicer looking than add on mudflats IMO

i bought mine from RPI designs for 50 bucks. I dunno what to make of them so far. They seem to be working and hang a little low for my liking, but i guess thats a good thing. I dont like the clip sticking out on the fronts though, but may remedy that by using a double sided 3m tape as someone suggested.

Because, as you would know, there's a massive cost differential. Besides, the rock guards don't completely look like an afterthought. The molded ones are certainly nicer though.

Absolutely correct.
They're not low enough. As you stated,,, 1" lower would do it.
ZL-1 most likely will not try and satisfy the 1LE and ZL1 folks.. The market is to small for them to make a profit.

I took a short ride last night after the install. When I arrived home? Shit was all up the front of the back wheels. Thank God there was no paint missing.
Are there any other outfits offering Rock Guards?
I'm at the point of trying out the GM painted Rock Guards.
These ZL1 Rock Guards don't correct shit... They're not low enough up front.
Maybe .5 below the rocker panels at best.

You'll be rid of about 25% of the crap from stock...That's about it.
