Rock guards

I'd like to see if anyone has made their own rock guards. I was going to get the ZL1 add-ons units until I saw that they're basically sheet plastic cutouts with a few clips and double-sided tape. Not sure if even the deluxe version with rounded edges is worth the $$.

I ordered those will have them this weekend but previously on my Mustang I had installed those $15 pieces of generic fit type and was perfectly acceptable to how it looked and did what I needed them to do.

I like the look and the function of the ZL1 addons delux guards. They are not crap. Not sure what else you are looking for.

Not saying they are crap. Just saying that based on the pictures I have seen, they look like something that could easily be fabricated at home. Maybe you could post close up pictures that might convince me otherwise

Get the ZL1 deluxe guards, you'll be glad you did. They are super durable and look like OEM.

I installed front and rear Deluxe ZL1 rock guards yesterday.
Aside from the directions for the rear being incorrect. The sizes of the spacers close at best. I was able to get them to fit.
I would have liked to have seen .5" wider on the guards both front and rear.
Anyway, they're better than driving around without any protection at all.
Maybe GM should have gone the Dodge route?
"Bush Whackers" Baby!
I paid $145.00 to do up my Ford Bronco back in the day.

We don't hear any complaints from the Dodge boys concerning Rock Chips.

They're "rocking" their Bush Whacker Truck Guards.

Dodge uses similiar protection today with the Challenger. Right up to the 70k Demon.
Lick and Stick...
When the day comes to sell our Camaro? We won't have much paint left around the wheels.

A couple of what? Rock guards at the front of your rear wheels?

Who makes those?

If I remember correctly, the smokey bandit had protection in front of his rear wheels on that Trans Am of his.

I believe these ZL1 addons rock guards will work fairly well on my 1LE.

Basically? It's better than nothing at all.

Two issues;

Update incorrect mounting instructions.
Also, maybe they should consider manufacturing rock guards specifically for us 1LE and ZL1 owners. Mention that the rock guards do not stand out for you folks.
A tad bit wider is needed.
.5" more coverage would do it.

They're good to go with the standard SS.
ILE and ZL1 owners? --- Not so much.
Mounting instructions?
There is a video on youtube showing a person installing these per the instructions.
The rear guards are sticking out a few sixteenths away from his fender. ( Gap )

Funny shit,, You can see the screws - screw threads between the guard and fender.
Hey, he liked it!

I got the OEM ones, and they work great. Stopped the rock chips on the rear quarters.

I was just about to order ZL1 rock guards but it was mentioned in this thread that they may not be wide enough for those of us with the 1LE. Is there another option that provides a bit more protection (while still looking good)?

Thanks in advance.

The previous poster wanted to see a couple pictures. The second pic is showing the rock guard ‘behind’ the front tire.

The ones I received installed just fine. No gaps or screw threads showing.

I had them on my SS 1LE, and now on my ZL1 1LE and they provide excellent protection. Once they extend past the well, they are wide enough. Rocks aren't going to curve back in their path once in the air and so there is no issue there.

Not sure why he's saying they don't work on the 1LE's, but they are perfectly fine.

Thanks for your input. I'll go ahead and get them ordered up tomorrow.
