Want green cats both for sound and smell and #California
High Flow cats and green cats just different names for the same thing.

Another thing ARH has is slip over fittings which is nicer than the ball and socket type.

They’re not exactly the same thing. Kooks “Green cats” are a much higher quality high flow made by a company called GEsi. They’re designed to handle high HP better than a typical cat.

ARH does offer the GEsi cats as an option, which is what I probably should have done. They don’t advertise it, but they will build them for you by request. They get a little pricey though.

Still no real plan from kooks. They are staying in contact so that is a plus. They sent me a picture of a set they have on a car in there shop and it looks like there is a bigger gap between the shaft and tube. It looks to me that the tube is bent slightly more on theirs. They also wanted to know when I purchased them and if I still had the box with the date on it. That leads me to believe there might have been a design change or something. I know they are running a business and are looking at this from a financial stand point and understand that, but I would really like to drive my car. It has been a long winter and we finally have some good weather. I will give another update when I have it.

If I read it right on the Kooks website, they are good up to 800hp. So, if you plan to go over that do you go catless?

yeah, my understanding was that they indeed were NOT the same thing: They offer high flow cats, green cats, and catless systems.

their hi flow cat connection pipes run are $575 while their Green cats are $1,155

Wish I had an update that also had a solution but I do not. Matt was supposed to call me again today but I have not heard anything yet. He told me yesterday on the phone there a ZL1 closer to him having the same issue and was hoping to get his hands on it. He also sent me pictures of one they have in their shop now that has no issues and does have more clearance then mine. It sounds like he would prefer if I sent my header back so they can put in the gig to see if it is out of spec and if its not then go from there. However that means my car is down and I did not spend all this money so now that the weather is finally turning good not to drive my car. The longer this drags on the more upset I am getting!

You definitely go catless. The ones I got from ARH were basically prototypes of their improved hi-flow cats. I eventually blew them out the tail pipes too. I don't care of it's called Green, Hi-Flow or what ever if you're going hi HP and you plan to road track it go catless.

But the OP being in CA has limited choices and needs cats. Kooks definitely knows this is not a one off issue and how they can keep selling them this way is beyond me. I'm betting the answer is send back the 2" and replace with 1-7/8" which is still cutting things close.

I am the OP and live in Oregon and everyone got off track talking about cats, this was about fitment.

Anyhow I agree with you mlee. They should send me 1-7/8" and take the 2" back because they for sure don't fit my car even if they do fit others. They also need to pay for the shipping and labor to do so. It is not my fault nor the fault of the shop that put them on they do not fit. They did not call me today like they said they would. Now I am pissed. My patience are now gone and it is time to look at this from a different stand point.

Oregon Cali... all the same

I agree you definitely should't have to pay anything more, but they will balk at the labor part.

I have Kooks 2 inch headers on my Zl1, put them on last August, I just measured in the area you are having the problem I have 1/4 inch clearance and no evidence of a rub on the steering shaft or the header pipe.

I tried the 2". They hit the steering shaft, so I went with the 1 7/8.
