LACK of Wheel Spin?

Hey guys - I'm at kind of a loss here... I see plenty of posts, namely in the 0-60 thread, where people are talking about wheel spin and getting some pretty solid times with comparable mods to my own.

No matter what I do, be it floor it from a stop or build to 2500-2700, then let off the brake (A8) and hammer the gas - I cannot drum up even the slightest amount of wheel spin (I've tried with just TC off, and with TC + Stabilitrak off just to be thorough). It feels like the car is being extremely limited off of its launch, then can pick up pretty quickly after it gets going (consistent 5.4 with what feels like no power from the start).

Is anyone else having a similar issue? Or better yet, perhaps resolved a similar issue? I've tried to search for this among 6th gens, but came up dry. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't heard of that issue before, it sounds like throttle cut but I don't believe our cars do that...I'd take traction all day over spinning tho

I hear you on taking traction... issue is it feels as if the power is cut out so much on the low-end of things that I am losing out on performance.

On maybe a slightly related note, did you guys receive a Stabilitrak error message when your vehicle was being tuned? I'm thinking they did not turn off the stabilitrak system prior to tuning, but curious if it just throws this every time we get on a dyno.

I thought about that, because I feel that the car was more aggressive pre-upgrades and tune in lower gears... but I didn't want to immediately point the finger at the tuner without getting some community input first. They are a particularly proud shop... but were very hesitant to take in my I4 and took a very long time to complete the tuning portion.

Any suggestions you have in particular on this front? Honestly I'm unsure how to tell them "something isn't right" other than saying it flat out, which will be met with lots of questions despite how sluggish the car feels in 1st gear.

Seems like you have a decent tune with your mods from your build thread. Probably exceeding limits. I would recommend removing the TCM and sending it to HP Tuners so they can "unlock" it. Modify the torque management, and slip % tables for each gear. You can not completely eliminate Torque management with out removing the engine management system altogether, but if you can find a happy place, understanding MOST decisions are based on TQ#'s reported by the ECM to the TCM, should eliminate your bog..

P.S. A lot of guys are Zeroing out slip tables and reporting a correction in the A8 shudder. Others are reporting if you wait too long, the TQ converter is too far gone, and even Zeroing out those tables won't correct the shudder.

Stabilitrak will almost always go off when getting off a dyno. I've been fortunate enough not to have that shudder some have experienced.

I don't see anywhere where you mention, or show pics of your car... Do you have the 18" wheels, or the 20" wheels? If you have the 20" wheels, they are pretty heavy. When I had the 20"s on my car, I would get like zero spin, despite on how high of an rpm I launched the car. Once I put some 18" wheels on (both with street tires, and my ghetto race tires), I could easily blow the tires off and had to actually try not to.

Hooning advantage is GM giving the manual an LSD and stealing it from people who paid extra for the auto lol

Yes, I'm still salty about that.
