I4 Turbo owner in CA

Ok, so I just bought a 2018 Camaro 2.0T, and living in CA, my options for mods are rather limited due to smog laws. Anyone know of any sites that have CARB certified upgrades? I'm mostly interested in a CAI...

Buy what you want, and keep the stock parts. You don't have to worry about smog for the first 5 years.

As of yet, I don't believe anyone makes CARB compondnts.

Good point Robert. Why worry about smog take a look around california and tell me how many people actually give a shit. If your shop can't find reason to overlook an aftermarket modification that helps the car run better with the same emission impact then probably not the shop for you.

Clearly you've not dealt with CA Smog. They don't play. CHP will stop you to inspect your car for compliance. They have sniffer vans that sit on the side of the road and record your plate. This isn't like other states where you palm the guy a $20 and hit the road. They have state referees out there validating compliance as well. While CARB may seem like overkill, obviously you've never seen the smog in the 70's-80's. That's why AZ and NV are both very quick to adopt any CA smog requirements. Both Phoenix and Las Vegas are in valleys and the air quality is generally shit.

I get what your saying but with all the modded Camaros and other cars out there if installed correctly those sniffer vans likely won't get enough.

No. if you get stopped by CHP or a ticket in the mail from the sniffer van, and you're found to have non-compliants parts by the referee, you won' be driving anywhere until you attempt to spend $XXX money showing youve tried to resolve the issue. Best bet for you is to stay out of CA.

LOL! what movies have you been watching? Sniffer vans? I've lived in CA my whole life and have never heard of this. You know what kind of computing power this sniffer van would need to know what car is dirty. I've seen road side "smogs", but those are voluntary.
