GTR is more of a target for the upcoming Corvette ZR1, unless Al gets the Camaro into the sub-7's.

I personally don't think we'll see GM make another run at the Ring with this generation Camaro. They should be very proud of what they accomplished this time around. Looking at the cars in front of them - they are all at least twice as expensive and twice as exotic. They already proved what they set out to do: show the world the Camaro is the best sub-$100k track-ready mass production car in the world.

I thought the GT-R was specially prepped for the Ring. Racing or near racing rubber. Suspension was tuned, etc. I am not sure of the details (the read of the article was a while ago). However, wasn't it even call the GT-R Ring setup or something like that?

Yeah, Team Camaro has every right to be proud of this generation. It's done things that nothing in the segment has dreamed of previously and raised the bar extremely high.

Well it was officially called the GTR Nismo - but yes, the goal of the GTR design team all along was a fast Ring time. There was a pretty cool documentary out on it. But at the end of the day, what is a 'Ring Setup' anyway? Its just a setup that ensures the car can be fast on the track. A road course as large as the Nurburgring has so many different types of turns, it's not like there would be a unique, Ring-only, setup for the car. Or so I'd assume.

Have to wonder if its Chevy's wonderful TQ management causing the ZL1 to be slower. The Chevy appears to have higher HP/TQ numbers and the weights seem to be very close from what i could find on google.
