I doubt GM will remedy this issue. It would probably be in your best interest to buy a cheap code scanner that can clear the light. I know they have some now that you can link with your phone via bluetooth and use the Torque app. Those solutions only run about $20, and do not void your warranty.

For every issue brought up there are thousands of cars with no issue or who don't drive their camaros in inclement weather conditions. I bet the people with those cars that accelerated on their own said the same thing. Or the takata airbag issue my point is unless someone files a big enough lawsuit with damages motor companies don't care about althe .1% so much.

Just wanted to give a little update since i brought my car into a different dealer for the 2nd time on the same issue. Dealer scanned the car, same P0172 code was stored, they did a physical check of the car and located no abnormalities. Moved onto check for calibration updates, found that there is a calibration update for my car. so the car has been updated by the dealer and they indicated that this should solve the issue. I will post an update in a month or so about how it has been going since the calibration!

Unfortunately they did not give any additional information, but that appears not to matter because my CEL came on again -_- so needless to say the calibration does not solve the issue :/ sorry!

They say third times the charm right? Because after going to the dealer for the third time, they finally spent some actual time trying to diagnose my car! (About 5 hours) and they have found that i have a faulty O2 sensor. Hopefully this actually solves the problem!!

So uh yeah the O2 sensor didn't fix the issue... apparently GM's tip line said there could be 4 other potential issues: charcoal canister, o-ring from intake to throttle bosy, MAF sensor, or high pressure fuel pump. they checked the charcoal canister for fuel saturation and checked the o-ring but found nothing. also tested the fuel pressure and found it to be normal so now i get a new MAF sensor this week....

Just checked in on this... I was the one posting before with the ATS with the 2.0 LTG with the same issue.
I’ve had the MAF replaced and it didn’t fix it. Interesting post about the off ramp on highway, i bought a bluedriver real time scanner and it did indeed show the same thing, the trims would get progressively worse after warming up and when coasting they’d basically max out at -29.9 (i think), triggering the CEL. The last work done on my car was replacing all of the fuel injectors, it seemed to solve the problem but that was also at the same time the weather started warming up... so i’d say it’s fairly likely it didn’t. It appears there is definitely a correlation between cold weather and the issue. It could perhaps be something with canadian fuel but i’m in northern alberta and it hits -40 here so maybe they don’t see those temps south of the border? I’ve since traded the car for a 3.6 and have had no issues thus far with it. I could be wrong on this one, but at least with mine it did seem like fuel was diluting the oil (the level rising + smell) and changing the oil appeared to resolve the problem (more temporarily?) |
