Please don't take this the wrong way, but you say you have autocrossed and raced for years, yet didn't think to upgrade your brake fluid beforehand?

Or to add the suggested brake ducts?

My 2013 Charger SRT8, (heavy car), on the same road I can drive 10/10 and NEVER overheat the brakes....but it does have factory brake ducts.

That is in the plans. From research it looks like Chevy does not have a kit out yet for our cars so I'll be fabbing some up and I'll post pictures.

You have the full factory brake cooling kit that came in the trunk installed? Including the smaller dust shields? I know people tracking these cars at Sebring, and they have no issues with the brakes overheating or such. They both did a fluid upgrade, but still, it seems odd. I could see some fade, but nothing to the extremes you mention.

Keep in mind, the convertible doesn't include all of the cooling upgrades of a standard camaro. I'll have to check, but the ducts may be one of the omitted items.

I can see those shields being omitted but my car does have some small ones on the front lower control arms. I don't have the flaps in front of the tires like I see on some SS cars that block the air to the wheels... It's just crazy. If you are going to sell a 455hp car and market it as a sportscar with TRACK capability then why don't they just do proper brake cooling. I have been reading post on other forums of guys saying that even base Corvette's have brake cooling issues with the stock brakes and if you are going to track them to do the Z51 upgrade. I'm having flashbacks of Dodge Caravans that needed rotors every 7000 miles because they put tiny rotors on a vehicle that weighed to much for the brakes..... :(

I have the answer to our brake cooling issues. My car is a vert. If you look at the grill in our cars on the far left and right you will notice that there are two blanks. If you remove the bolts holding the inner fender bolts and pull it down you can see behind the grill and notice that there are some clips that hold them in. So, I removed the clips and remove the blanks. Wow, a way to get cool air to the brakes. Now, the air is trapped in the the fender apron. I took a utility knofw and removed part of the apron so the air can get to and brake cooling deflector on the Control arm and now I have brake cooling. I also removed the brake backing plates just to be sure.
I'll work on getting pictures up to explain better. I did some preliminary test and they seem to be working better. I'll hit the mountain brain next week and do further testing and report back. Thank you Chevrolet for the Easter Egg!
