I think that's the reason so many people like to complain about the visibility...they're adults and just used to pickups, or camrys with 3x the glass...and too stubborn, or unwilling to accept the trade-off for the styling of the vehicle. "Can't teach an old dog new tricks" sort of thing? My .02, anyways.... |

Usual stuff of one cannot drive if having an issue. I just do not like the bunker (slot) view out the side windows.

The visibility is the result of a styling choice, period.
The visibility is better out the front Worse out the side Dramatically worse out the back and rear quarters. I just got to drive a Gen6 yesterday, and I wasn't totally comfortable navigating it around downtown Portland traffic. The performance was great, it's very well balanced and very powerful, but it isn't a confidence inspiring car when it comes to being in a congested environment. Oh and if I had a choice of which car to be in a serious traffic collision or road incident...I would NOT want to be in the 67 Camaro pictured above. An accident that would likely result in minor injuries (but a totaled car) in a Gen 6 would likely be a fatal accident in the Gen 1 |

Finished second week in new car. I like it. No issues with visibility -except- the back and to the right (rear quarter). It doesn't happen very often, but when it does it's a major pain.
Most recent event I can think of was when stopped in a lane and trying to move to the right. Oddly, it's easier if the cars in the right lane are moving. If they're stopped, or moving slowly, it's touchy. Especially if someone is trying to let you in. They may be in a position that doesn't easily let you see they're trying to. The visibility is not "bad"... uniformly. It's fine for most situations and very bad for a few others.

I posted this in another thread, but if you've ever tried to look out the rear view mirror in a Lamborghini or Ferrari, you would know what difficult is...funny, no one complains about rear visibility in those two cars...lol.

Coming from an E46 BMW 330i, visibility is obviously compromised but doesn't really bother me. I'm not used to the larger size of the car yet and the corners are harder to figure out, which means I take wider turns, but it's not a huge deal. There are far more awesome things to think about while driving.
The relatively more challenging visibility actually makes me a more cautious driver, which is for the better.

Yup. At least on the 2LT. You have to enable the option, I don't think it's on by default.

That's why I'm trading my SS for a minivan today.... Stupid visibility! Or maybe not. Never had an issue with our fifth gens or this one. Not one complaint from my wife or son either.
