If I had an aftermarket exhaust on my SS (which hopefully I will soon), and I liked the sound, I would probably rev it too :( Does this make me a bad person?

I've never shown in any car shows myself, unfortunately, so I can't really relate. However, I'm normally very soft spoken and 'introverted.' I tend only to talk to people that I know. I'm not so much a social butterfly as some others . I can see how you might get frustrated with others that seem snobbish, but those are the type of people that I don't associate with in the first place. I appreciate ALL types of cars, and I'll give credit where credit is due.

The fact that you would consider selling your car because of the actions/mentalities of others who drive the same car as you is pretty damn stupid and overly dramatic. That makes you not much better than some of these others who create whine-threads. Suck it up and ignore those others, imo.

Is the exhaust still considered stock if the mufflers are painted?

i realized that since discovering this forum for any info on the current camaro.[[.because i have an 02 trans am ws6 collector edition and i know it won't last forever.. ]]so people here are /i feel that they are much more passionate group about their rides and a proud community. i for one don't show my car less people see it the better. i keep it to myself.

wheelmanss, do what you feel you like to do. there's no law or obligation to get with the other crowd just because they have the same car as you .hang out with the persons you feel comfortable with.

as for guys with shirts, caps, and coats written camaro all over well you can't do anything.those persons, just like to show their ride to everyone and show/wants to be heard . there's some guys like this just look away! look at women it's better!

and if you feel that you want to depart from your camaro i'm shure you'll miss it. it's a part of you. like my 10 year old ws-6 trans am. i know i'll betray her when i'll let her go for a ZL1 someday..

It's pretty much the same for every car group, Porsches, camaros, mustangs, ricers, lambos, ferrais. People have pride in their cars of course pride is also a sin :P. Though we bought our cars for a reason, we didn't buy a ricer or a econo box for a reason. If you don't have a bit of pride in your camaro then really just buy a Prius :P

Some of the OP points I'll agree to however here on the south side of chicago you don't see many 5th Gen's and the times I do pass by one its usually ehh whatever maybe its chicago i have yet to run into those crowds you speak of mainly because I'm not looking for them. These cars are meant to be modded to our style so if some "bling" their rides so be it its not my taste but who am I to tell another person what they should do with their ride. I've seen my share of distasteful mods but thats only my opinion I do not feel the need to sell the car just because of a couple people. If that was the case we would have a hard time settling for a car since there will always be a group of idiots behaving in such manners.

I have gone to all corvette shows & have been welcomed with open arms, but if I go to an open show with my vette & park next to my husband or my brother in law with their camaros OH I am the devil. by the corvette owners, Now I have met some corvette owners that are kewl about owning diff cars.

but as for car groups parking together thats their right, if someone doesnt show up then open that parking pot up to everyone.

So you choose this to be your opening statement/1st post here?

I don't think he's "like" 15. He's a Camaro owner (SRT4, that's a sedan, right?) who's been on the forum for a couple years and has noticed some trends here and in the Camaro community. This is a discussion board. He's allowed to discuss his experiences.

I'm big on research, so I was pouring over this board along with other sources for weeks prior to signing up. Overall, I think this forum is an incredible resource with a great sense of community, thanks to Tran, the mods, and most posters working to be civil. A mod mentioned the other day we have 30k members. We're our own city! In any group that large, you get a cross section of humanity with the requisite personality/ temperament clashes.

To the OP, I hope you can ignore the obnoxious, insecure few and just enjoy your car! I'm with you - love car shows, a beautiful car is a beautiful car. Mods, no mods - even if something isn't my style, I can appreciate the care and effort others put into it and the pride they feel in their cars. As the saying goes, guns don't kill people, people do: Camaros don't make people jerks, they started out that way. See post quoted above. No Camaro, yet bad attitude...

Along those lines, to the newbie I quoted, welcome. There are plenty here who don't have their Camaros yet, or who have other vehicles and just enjoy shooting the breeze about cars. I hope you take a little time to read the TOS, and some threads and posts here to get a feel for the forum. Perhaps then your second post won't be an insult to a fellow poster.

I have grown to really dislike 5th gen camaro owners. Sorry if this hurts people's feelings, but I'm gonna get this out.

In addition to the mostly pointless nonsense on the forums, my local car show has also left me annoyed. I have been going to this show for 10+ years. Since I got my 5th gen, I have continued to park with some of buddies I have made over the years, ranging from a 4th gen LT1 to an old Nova to a straight up army Jeep. We walk around the show and check out all the cars, chat, share stories, and hang out.

Then we have the 5th gen crew. They constantly wave me over to park near them when I roll in, but I snub them every time.

They gather at the show, created their own section away from everyone else. They take up more parking spaces than necessary (surprise surprise) and try to prevent others from parking in "their area". They have their own lame "5th gen" tshirts, and congregate in a little huddle like a high school clique. They don't make an effort to walk around the show or talk to others. A few of them need to start their cars and rev their awful, raspy sounding home brew exhaust. Not even the pro-street Chevelles do this. The king of their group actually has a cold air intake that he installed himself! Whoa! The appearance master of the group has a camaro that has every possible appendage and body piece converted to chrome. The car blinds people when it is sunny out. All the while, they look down and act smug towards the car show visitors that don't have muscle cars that just came to enjoy the night. As the show concludes, they incessantly rev and peel out of the parking lot, leaving on an even more obnoxious note.

Not sure what it is about this car, but this crowd is very disappointing. The 5th gen camaro is just another muscle car. It is not "better" than anything else out there, it's just another platform. Being one of the tens of thouasans of people that owns one does not put you in some sort of exclusive club. It is still just a car. Get over yourselves.
I agree. The arrogance of the 5th gen cult members far exceeds all other groups of car enthusiast. I have a group of guys I'll go to shows with. We spend way more time looking at cool classic cars than sitting at our own cars. It's a 5th gen. They're a dime a dozen at car shows these days. If I want to drive a car that gets attention I'll drive my wife's Sky

I bought the car to drive it, not to sit around with a bunch of gear heads and watch them act like children. If you really wanna go to the car show, take another car if you have one and just enjoy the show.

Dude...the club thing is supposed to enhance your experience. You need to hang with another crowd.
