Recommendation: Do not use Transport mode (makes things harder). Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery, and put a good AGM tender directly on the battery.
How to open the trunk with a dead (or disconnected) battery when the car is locked (for verts, and ZLEs when the secret-back seat release isn't opened in advance): 1. Remove the plastic cover on the stationary part of the door handle on the driver's side (notice the slot on the bottom). Make a note of how it comes off, see Notes below. Can be pried off using a key, but better with plastic trim tool to reduce scratching/damage. Remove the metal key from your fob and unlock the car. 2. Get in the car and open the hood with the release under the dash. 3. Connect a 12V power source to the jump terminals under the hood. Wait 30 seconds for computers to wake up. Pop the trunk using the fob. If the key fob doesn't work, hold the start button down for 6 seconds with foot OFF the brake pedal to put the car in to key-ON mode. Then push the trunk button on the driver's door. NOTES:

What I use is SeaFoam. I have been using SeaFoam in everything that I have or had and have stored. I have never had any problems in the last 15 years of using it. SeaFoam keeps your gas good for up to 24 months and it cleans your carb, injectors, etc. check it out.
https://seafoamworks.com/ They recommend 1 oz. per gallon. When I stored my ZL1 for the winter, we have a 19 gallon gas tank, so I always go a few oz's or more. I put around 22 oz. in my gas tank and top off with premium and take a little 5-10 mile ride to circulate it through your fuel system, then done! I plugged my battery tender in then covered my car for the winter. In my Sierra 1500 4x4 truck I have a 26 gallon tank. I would add 2 16 oz. cans in my gas and top it off, then drive it everyday like I normally do. It cleans out my injectors while driving. My truck is my daily driver and I drive it all year round. I also used it when storing my lawn mower, Harley, dirt bike, jet ski, snowmobile, leaf blower, 4 wheeler, snowblower etc. Just a thought

Something for the brakes. The rotors will rust and the pads will seize to the rotor surface, no doubt.
I think, but haven't done it, that if you cut up one of those plastic folders used for paper that are available everywhere. Cut to size and place between the pads and rotors. No seizing, but won't do anything to keep the rotors clean. You'll have to drive slow once you get back, remove the plastic first, to get the rotors clean. Good luck with the family situation. Like others have said: pull the neg terminal off of the battery, air up the tires to near max. You have a good idea for the fuel fill, you might think about using soup cans to clamp over the exhaust tips. Rat poison under the hood is also a good thought.
