How to long term store a ZL1

Now that I've purchased JRE's 125 RWHP Package, I've had a family emergency that will bring me back to the USA for months, maybe even a year. So how do I store my ZL-1. I will store it at my condo. So there are people around, but there's also security. So I hope it will be safe under it's car cover. Nevertheless, if the battery dies, how do I get in. If I disconnect the battery after locking it up, and shut the trunk, how do I get in? Can I set it up so that she is secure but I can still get in when I get back? I'm hoping somebody has done this before....

I would consider renting a storage unit and have a trickle charger on it

When I store mine for the winter (up to five months) I just disconnect the negative terminal and close the trunk lid but don't let it shut all the way. Put it under an indoor cover. Much longer than that and you will want to use fuel stabilizer and do some other stuff.

I would drain the tank and run the car out of gas to clear the injectors, especially with ethanol gas. Spray engine bay with silicone spray, remove battery or connect Optimate auto trickle charger. Remove wheels if you don't want massive flat spots

I'm not convinced fuel stabilizer keeps injectors from getting fouled over time

I'd run make sure that it has under half a tank and put some gas stabilizer in it. If you don' have an outlet near by to plug in a battery tender, I'd pull the battery out and put a tender on it out of the car. Some extra air in the tires would also be good.

I park my summer cars for 6 months every year. I just park them and connect a tender. I've never had any problems.

No, I didn't. I bought this car on the gray market here in Thailand. So they no nothing about the car. They just import. I have already Googled it your suggestion. That will work, Thank you. I'll just have a new battery ready when I return, and some Jumper cables.... just in case.

Take the cables off the battery. I bet it will be fine.

I will do a good amount of extra air, Thank you. Nice idea. But I don't have fuel stabilizer. Although I might try lazada Online shopping to see if they import any, thanks. If they don't, I might try to run the car as close to under a gallon of fuel. Then bring in a 5 gallon container when I return to mix everything as well as possible. I'm not really worried about condensation here in Bangkok. It's rarely under 90, for the 2 winter months it dips into the 80 and at night it might actually get to 75 on the coldest night. Usually at night it's over 80. And the day night difference is rarely more than 10 degrees.

Will the Truck open without battery power? Is there a manual release for this. I hate not knowing anything about this car.

Sorry to hear about your family emergency. I hope it all works out for you.

Trickle charger, flat stoppers and fuel stabilizer (maybe). Pull the battery and put it on the charger if the grid is not stable. That’s probably a slight over reaction but a new battery is cheaper than replacing the electronics if something were to happen (don’t ask me how I know that...). The flat stoppers work well to reduce the chances of needing new tires. Over inflate them as well like others have mentioned. I’m not sure about the fuel stabilizer for that potential length of time so you’ll have to do more research or maybe someone else can chime in. Good luck!

There is a manual release for the trunk and it should show it in your owners manual if you got one when you bought your car. You could google it too and I’m sure you’ll find it that way. Or, just leave the trunk unlatched but....I wouldn’t rely on that unless you are willing to figure out a way to have it not latch if by chance somebody leans on the trunk lid.
Look into the manual release of the trunk. It’s doable.
Honestly I would disconnect the battery. Or pull it right out.

The best thing would be to put the car up off the ground, or remove wheels and tires, May not be a option, Stabile marine grade is the go to, a half empty tank or empty can rust inside due to humidity, The green stabile can last a year, 1 ounce to 10 gallon normally 2 ounces for 20 gallons/19 for the camaro, but double the dose for a year treatment. Fill the car double the dose and drive for 10 minutes and park it. Floating trickle chargers are the best, when the battery drops a little, it will charge to full then automatically turn off, make sure you have fresh oil in it 50% life or
better, after you get back check it over, crank it , check air pressure, and go for a ride ! And what ever you do Do not ! I repeat Do not wash it, then at once put it up. ! When you come back the brake pads will be stuck to the rotors and the car will not move, unless you remove the wheels and pry the pads from the rotors. Might not be a bad idea to put some rodent poison under the hood just incase a mouse or rat wants a ZL1 home ! Hope all go's well with the family !

I considered blocking it, but I think I'm going to just over inflate the tires some. I might try to find a small amount of stabilizer for the fuel. Else I'm just SOL on that one. I will fill the with benzene instead of the normal gasohol, I have two different locking lugs, and I have security personnel (hopefully). The car has been ceramic treated, so I will wash it and cover it. As for the fuel nozzle. I would like to shield the gas input nozzle somehow to make sure somebody doesn't do something stupid to my car when I'm gone and security isn't looking, kids will be kids.... As for the seized brakes, I'll leave the parking brakes off and leave it in park. If the pads still weld themselves to the rotors, I'll have to deal with that issue then. I hope it's not bad. Maybe a little cooking oil or WD-40 plus a small amount of controlled acceleration and maybe I can brake them free. And then be really careful and leave a lot of space for a very long time. I'll have to research this brake issue. And see if i can find a locking cover for my Gas inlet.
