Guys with paint defects from the factory.. what was result?
My brother noticed some paint defects on his new SS (was a '16 leftover, early production build). He has some very small areas of crazing, a few small bubbles, and what appears to be a drip/smudge area that wasnt properly sanded enough.
What should he expect GM will do about it? He is kind of freaking out, but Id like to sort of ground him. Im just curious what others ended up doing, or how they were compensated (if at all)?

Mine came with circular smudges with scratches within them from the factory. Just brought it to my dealership and they fixed it. I've heard of other people having paint bubbles and I believe their dealerships fixed that as well.
Your brother should be able to get these issues fixed under warranty if it came like that from the factory. |

Things like this should be spotted on delivery, or just a few days after… After that time A dealer can start to say that is was caused by road debris or your use…

Hi all, 8 days ago picked up my new 2017 2LT w/Redtint coat and noticed on the passenger door a paint bubble, and 1 elsewhere and told the dealer then and he added it to a WEO, but what will they do, fix it with the touchup paint or replace the whole door? It's not easy to see so I am ok if they don't touch but don't want them to cause more damage, so does anyone know what they will and how? Also I told the dealer don't touch my new car as the last Camero caused swirls marks in the clear coat, so I am to return it to the dealer for detailing and worried since there are no swirl marks now but will there be after? I don't know if they or they pay somebody outside to detailing. Any advice is appreciated. I don't have ton of knowledge or experience but have some stuff and thinking I will do the detailing myself? Then I know what will be used.
Thanks Christopher |

I had a few paint issues with my '13 ZL1. They repainted the entire car, and I found problems with their workmanship the require 2 more trips back for paint, then the final straw was when the clear coat started peeling off, and yet another trip to the shop. Other dealerships wouldn't touch it because of the poor job done previously. I had the car just under 3 years before selling it. In total, it spent about 9 or 10 months in the shop for repainting. Needless to say I'm not a fan of warranty paint work. That could be a problem with just that 1 dealership's body shop, but still...
