Do I really need Mag Ride?
Hello all, I have been on a daily search now for the past year for a 6th gen, 2 SS, 6 sp, mag ride and dual mode exhaust and those options are few and far between on the used market. I have found plenty of options without Mag ride but have also read many posts that those who have it love it, and the cars without drive in sport mode all the time. I will be driving this mostly like a daily driver (I have a paid off 2011 grand cherokee overland as a backup) and will be putting some miles on it. I do not really plan to track this vehicle (wouldn't say never) and I would like my wife to ride in it and not complain too much about the bumps. For those who have experience, please help me decide if Mag ride is necessary. For $1500 I have no idea why so many people went without as I hear it is magnificent. Other have said its fine without.
Thanks |

Generally those without say its fine without and those with say its magnificent. I drive around in sport and love it, but I really appreciated tour mode on the trip to Fest!

Its a great option because its softer than stock in tour snd harder than stock in track. Some days you just want a cush ride!
Im selling a 2ss with the options you want, check out the FS section.

I wanted it so got it. But now I regret it because I track the car and would have rather saved the money and put it towards a good coilover setup.
But, if you don't plan on being a track rat, definitely get it, It is awesome! |

I was on kind of on the fence as well, but now I realize that this feature is a must have. The feel of magnetic ride is absolutely exceptional. Fantastic technology.
1SS/2SS with Mag Ride and NPP is my recommendation. $42,995 (2SS) + $1,695 (Magnetic Ride) + $895 (NPP) = $45,585 $42,995 (2SS) + $1,695 (Magnetic Ride) + $895 (NPP) + $1,495 (Auto) = $47,080 .

The only downside to MRC is that you're stuck with stock damping and more-or-less stock spring rates, a bit of an issue if you want to lower the car and retain it's track performance. Not having MRC allows you to splurge on a set of custom valved/sprung coilovers. If you're not going to do that, go for MRC - tour mode is supple and track mode is properly good for back roads and occasional track days.

Thanks for the heads up about the marketplace- didn't know that existed. I am looking closer to 30K. Waiting for these prices to fall with the 2018s out. Gotta wait til the end of summer.

Depends on what you do with your car. I had on it on my C7, would not get it again, just didn't use the aggressive settings as a DD enuf to justify it.

Driving on roads that are bumpy often? GET IT. You will be happy you did. It makes driving the Camaro everyday that much more pleasant. I was not going to buy one without it.
