Fluttering Sound from Heater Fan Motor

Took my 2016 2SS Convertible in for its first oil change today. I told them about a fluttering sound in the fan motor. Sounds like there is a leaf inside. It comes and goes. They say they called GM about it and its a known issue with no fix. I see nothing on this forum about it. Any Suggestions or comments??

Is it a known problem? I have not heard of this myself, it seems to me you're dealer might be feeding you BS, maybe try another dealer see if they can help you.

I have the same problem but it only happens when the heater fan is blowing hard, otherwise when at a lower fan speed its not a problem. I'm not worried about it, really, as I hardly even need the heater where I live.

Is it possible you are hearing a stepper motor which controls a damper? There is no way a "flapping" sound from a squirrel cage blower is normal. And typically it is hard to get leaves in these things any more. There is usually a filter where the air is drawn in.

You might be able to remove the filter and feel around in there for paper or something else that entered. I think something from the assembly process is much more likely than leaves.

I just noticed this issue for the first time. My heater never seems to blow on high, but I had windows open and full fan on.. flap flap flap flap.. sounds like the plastic or rubber flapper that diverts air up/down etc is being blown around forcefully. If I back the fan off a bit it goes away.

So, no fix? I'm sure its going to be a pita dash removal fix! Not looking forward to that.

There's a how-to around here on changing the shift knob which includes pulling out the console. Usually when you pull out the console you can get to both sides of the duct system with the dampers.
NOTE: You don't need to remove the console to change the shift knob. The bezel pops off. There is a youtube video for that.
