The idea that GM is putting out products that aren't 50 state legal is retarded. GM knows that an after market intake needs to retain all emissions related crap from the stock intake like that dumb carbon pad but they intentionally left it out of their gmpp intake, ensuring it will never be carb compliant.
They didn't need to leave it out, they chose to. Though so have companies like k&n that know for a fact what will be required because they have compliant products for the 5th gen which has the same carbon pad. Not sure what the plan is with these companies. Seems like they have gone out of their way to not design for 50 state. Which makes no sense financially since they should already have a good idea of what will pass even if they don't submit for testing right away. |

Maybe I missed it somewhere, but is there any dyno evidence that the GM intake/tune does anything more than drain your wallet?

I've done 0-60 runs on various roads that have a 60+ speed limit and my times are well within the margin of error of being the same as when i was running my K&N drop-in filters. That's with the aFe intake rather than the GM one.
I think the higher flow filter makes the majority of the difference (if there is any) and the rest is all for visual aesthetics...as they dont really improve on the OEM design much at all. |

Got mine installed finally! While not a huge difference, it is most definitely a noticeable one.
Throttle is more lively and the car feels a little stronger all over, especially on the freeway. I'm happy with it! |

*EDIT* Actually, I just read this in the installation manual, so I'm not real sure how to clean the filter... Filter Caution Caution: Filter must be replaced if saturated with water. Only use Genuine Replacement Chevrolet Performance Air Filters. This is on the GM website: Add an element of performance-oriented style to your vehicle with this 3.6L Cold Air Intake System. It looks great under the hood and includes a reusable open-element air filter, a sealed compartment and all necessary installation hardware. This upgrade creates up to a 15% reduction in pressure drop and is legal in 37 states. . . . Last edited by Lukemo; 07-06-2017 at 09:31 AM. |

Just came back from getting a Tune on 91/E85, and was told when they tried to get a baseline dyno run that it was running "Massively Lean" with this intake without the tune.
You either need the GM tune or a custom tune.. Basically do not run this intake without the tune or you will be running VERY VERY LEAN!
