Flex Fuel is a definitive no go! And some other disappointing information

Just figured I would update you guys I spent about 10 hours testing all the pins on our computer 3 different ways and there is no pin trigger for the flex fuel sensor table in our ECM software... why GM decided to include flex fuel tables the ability to turn the sensor off and on but not have a pin for it is beyond me!

But I personally tested all active and empty pins and received no signal from any of them sadly :-(.

Also seems around 400 wheel torque is the limit on the 8l45 as something is messed up on mine we are not sure if its in the converter or the flex plate yet but its definitely part of the transmission.. I had mine checked and flushed etc.. at about 20k miles im at 50k now I will have more information on that soon.

Have some other information to go around but ill provide more when I have definitive information.

Has not been a great week of trying to mod!!!!

Thats limiting. So ots basically gas or an e85 tune...

Any possibility the 17s and further may have it? I know the 16s have an open computer where as the 17s have a pre locked computer.

Hows the trans goin? Slippage or noises?

Yeah or buy hp tuners so you can switch tunes when you want too. The computers are identical the 17 is just locked who knows why.

As for the transmission squeaking squealing at idle make almost no noise under loud seems to shift and drive just fine but its def the trans as there is a inspection cover/hole right under the car when you remove it the noise is 10x louder. Gonna have to pull it to know for sure... There was a big issue with the 16 m5t transmission where they didnt machine something right this is beside the shutter issue. Gonna ask never hurts to just ask I am out of warranty anyways at over 50k miles.

before i got my tune, my transmission basically died, they under warranty gave me a new Trans. It grinned and would not lock gear, you may be having the beginnings of this issue.

i got hp tuners, but that seems to labor intesive just to run different fuels.

Warranty on the powertrain should be 60k. Od double check. Worth a shot

We are going to check the transmission fluid for any metal particulates today, Finished the e85 street tune last night and idle after running a tank through it.. Even changed the slip tables everything acts as normal just loud as squealing at idle whatever it is inside the transmission it keeps turning for about 2 seconds after car is shut off and belts and pulleys stop and it almost sounds like air releasing very slowly so annoying! lol yeah we are going to ask a dealer worst case is they say no! the fact that I already had reported transmission issue before modding might help my case.

Hopefully you find very little if none. Fingers crossed for ya

I saw the post about the 8l45 to 8l90 swap. If we are lucky, i remember back on the charger the difference between v6 andv8 transmissions were the amount of clutches in the clutch packs. I was loking into it on the 5th gen and the 6l50 vs the 6l80 was similar, as many parts were interchangeable. Hopefully you can , if needed, get a rebuild done with extra clutch packs to hold the extra tq transfer. Been wondering if red eagle makes clutches for these transmissions being so new. Or maybe borg warner...

Havent contacted level ten since i was planning a rebuildon the NAG1 in the charger though.

Hopefully you come across some good news

If I make it to CF8 and there's GM engineers there again this year, i'm going to hammer that question through on the E85 Flex Fuel.

Yeah there is 0 transmission love for us right now - There is a torque converter company that builds colorado 8l45 torque converters right here in florida But I am unsure the compatibility with the camaro. You would think 8l45 to 8l45 but I am not even sure right now if its the converter, Flex plate or a bearing.
