DEPUTY SHERIFF vs LAWYER

A lawyer runs a stop sign and gets pulled over by a sheriff's deputy. He thinks that he is smarter than the deputy because he is a lawyer and is certain that he has a better education than any cop from Nowhere. He decides to prove this to himself and have some fun at the deputy's expense.

The deputy says, 'License and registration, please.'

'What for?' says the lawyer..

The deputy says, 'You didn't come to a complete stop at the stop sign..'

Then the lawyer says, 'I slowed down, and no one was coming.'

'You still didn't come to a complete stop, Says the deputy. License and registration, please.'

The lawyer says, 'What's the difference?'

'The difference is you have to come to complete stop, that's the law. License and registration, please!' the Deputy repeats.

Lawyer says, 'If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I'll give you my license and registration; and you give me the ticket. If not, you let me go and don't give me the ticket.'

'That sounds fair. Please exit your vehicle, sir,' the deputy says.
At this point, the deputy takes out his nightstick and starts beating the daylights out of the lawyer and says, 'Do you want me to stop, or just slow down?'

So are we allowed to tell jokes that the COP is the blunt of the joke? If its ok to make fun of lawyers, I think it would be a double standard to not allow jokes about cops... just saying...

That is just the way it is in the world we live in. Lawyers are always the butt of every joke because know one seems to respect them until they need one to be on their side.

Good one by the way.

I was doing a ride-along with a police officer one day when someone actually asked him that difference. He replied " If I start punching you and you say slow down or stop, which would you choose?"

I'm not a lawyer or in law enforcement but when it comes to any contests of being the butt of the most jokes or not being respected I think the lawyers are going to win every time. That said both are definately professions that get more than their share of criticism until people need them. Personally I think what we really need is more bureaucrat jokes.

You forgot the part where the lawyer sues to city for 10mill and wins, the deputy gets fired, and then sued blind broke in civil court and ends up living in a cardboard box cause he couldn’t take a little lip.

That the true part of that story ya better watch out for.

Like those bank robbers in LA with all the armor n firepower who shot up about 50 cops, the families sued and most of those cops lost everything [pension, savings, houses, college funds…]
including their jobs. Cause its protect and serve, even someone who just shot your partner, when they waived off medical help for the downed robbers, they broke the cardinal rule and the families of the robbers ended up with more then they tried to steal.

Now that’s the moral of the story is take whatever lip you get, its part of the job.

No one ever said social services were a fun job.

Watch you’re a$$es out there guys.
