Sunroof Rails Replacement

Some of the plastic parts of the sunroof are broken on the passenger side. Is it possible to replace them from the top? I can not see a way to do it without dropping the entire sunroof assembly from inside the car.

I either opened or closed the sunroof and heard a crunching sound.

Wow, I wonder if something got into the track while driving. I wish you luck on the repair and hope this isn't a common issue!

Usually you can only buy the rails as a unit.
So it will be the track assembly, with the glass as a different part. But i haven't looked into our cars for that.
I feel i read somewhere you need to pull the windshield to get the headliner out.

Top access is very limited. You can remove the glass panel (typically by unscrewing a few fasteners with the sunroof tilted/vented) and possibly access the air deflector or some visible tracks, but the internal rails and broken plastic bits are not easily serviceable that way. Debris or loose pieces might be cleanable from above, but full replacement usually requires reaching the sunroof by dropping the headliner (or at least the front section) from inside the car to access the full sunroof assembly. I’ve heard that windshield removal is easier to get to the headliner on our cars, which adds a whole set of risks.
The labor involved might cost as much as the sunroof itself.
Sourcing a used sunroof might be more cost-effective, but the labor is going to eat into your wallet.
The key to keeping cost down in this scenario will be acquiring the sunroof at the cheapest possible price. I would really be surprised if you could get the job done for under $2500.
