Magnuson 2650 tuner advice question

Hey, I recently picked up a 2019 1SS1LE manual that had been modified by a Chev dealer custom for the seller. Should I have gotten a tuner, or even just a dongle for the OBD port? I have the receipts, the main mods are:

Maggie 2650
LT4 injectors
DSX Fuel pump
Katech throttle body
Rotofab CAI
Alky control dual nozzle meth
100 mm pulley
Kooks headers
Corsa exhaust
Eibach lowering springs
ZL1 body kit

I want to take it in to a (different, local to me) shop for a dyno tune, but they are asking me about the license for the current tune, etc.

I’d appreciate a few thoughts on the best way to proceed - should I purchase an HP Tuner, or what do you Magnuson people prefer for a tuner? She runs strong, ridiculous really, with no issues, do I actually need to do a dyno tune?

Thanks!!

Are you saying a dealer installed meth and long tube headers and all those other mods? Very surprising, but if true, I'm sure the service techs got a kick out of it

Yes, you want to use HPTuners (MPVI3 or MPVI4) with these cars. It won't be cheap (in addition to the tuning hardware, you'll also need to buy "credits" for each module you want to tune), but if I were you, I'd definitely want to be able to see and change the tune that such a heavily modded car is running.

You also may want to hit up the seller and ask for the tune files, he should've received those from his tuner, there's no way this car is running a stock tune.

I'd just data log the car with the MPVI dongle first before deciding whether or not to have it retuned. You seem to be satisfied with how the car runs, if the tune is good and the data log is clean, why mess with it? A couple more hp isn't worth it IMO. On the other hand, if the data log shows issues, you would do well with a tune.

Remote tuning is also a very viable option, there are several professionals and semi-professionals here in the forums who can help you out.

Thanks for all the info, much appreciated. I shall source a tuner (Canada) and probably have more questions later. Thanks again, Mark.
