AWE Touring axle back install
Yes, I have NPP exhaust... But I kept hitting the track mode every time I fired it up and really have no need for it to be any quieter..In fact I wanted it louder...lol...So the AWE touring axle back got the nod...I wasn't sure how this was going to work out because I have the GM first gen ground effects package on the car...Here's the starting point...

I'm not going to bore you with the actual install there's plenty of that available but some things I needed/wanted to do through out the process...First, the suitcase came off easily and the AWE instructions were spot on with no issues...
I've read where the suitcase removal makes for some wind resistance with the rear diffuser...And the GM ground effects diffuser looks to add to the problem with the encased tips... So after the muffler install I made a cardboard template and proceeded to make my own custom air deflector/brace for the ground effects diffuser...It fits perfectly and I've made it wide enough to direct some air to the exhaust tip holes... Here's my version of the air deflector...

Unfortunately my OCD kicked in and I polished the AWE axle back mufflers and pipes to make them shine...Considering how the ground effects was only attached {like all the SS cars} with two supports I wanted to add additional support so... I ordered up an additional rear bumper support and the required additional screws with captive washers to get the job done..Then attached it to the center of the aluminum bumper...

Here's the air deflector in place.. Nice and tight at all angles.. And as stated before I brought the ends out to help deflect air to the enclosed openings hopefully helping the tips stay cooler...

As far as fit and finish AWE hit it out of the park.. I've got the system and tips exactly where it needed to be to shoot through the enclosed opening and the tips clear the openings with 1/8 or more around them so it's a win/win on the install...And best of all the sound is awesome !!!

Fantastic! Not sure if you knew this but GMS actually sells those air deflectors, I have one for my system https://www.griffin-motorsports.com/...mper-belly-pan

Nice write up and pics. And great job on the polishing! Now I'm gonna have to do that, whenever I'm able to bite the bullet and get an AWE Touring setup.
