Where could I go when dealership fails to diagnose?
I have been having an issue with my 1LE and eLSD. Some point about 6 months ago my car started feeling like it was tramlining really hard around turns right when I started the car. Felt like a sway bar was loose or disconnected, it didn't feel good. Got car mechanically checked out, alignment, it's fine. Issue still persisted. Then I checked my eLSD display on the dash. Every time my car starts up it will lock up the eLSD in what I think are purge events to get out any air from the eLSD hydraulic system. This event according to the documentation I have read should only happen every few ignition cycles. Also according to this documentation, these events should only happen at low speeds and while going straight. I have seen these events happen over 35mph and while turning. The turning part is what has been what I have been feeling, as you can imagine, having a turn where the eLSD 100% locks up is not great feeling and I can only imagine not great for the eLSD itself.
The dealership took my $290 diagnosis fee and told me the car was fine. I had also asked them to do a service bleed procedure with a scan tool but they told me car was acting as it should. My question is, where can I go to get someone who would give a shit about looking into my issue? With this being the eLSD, will it be hard to get this diagnosed outside of a Chevy dealership? Could I find a mechanic that may have some Chevy certified techs? What about maybe a performance shop, I could ask the shop that did my tune and headers install. I will say, I have been having other gremlins too, sometimes the car won't unlock from the keyfob, the car sometimes won't turn off after the first time pressing the ignition, not sure if these are related at all or maybe just issue with fob battery I should probably replace soon. Thanks for any input.

Absolutely start with the simple, cheap fix. Put in new FOB battery. As far as eLSD, I would call around to dealers to see if they know about the bleeding and ask if they have a tech capable of doing so. I have a pretty good dealer by me, but they are 1200 miles from you. Keep us posted.
PS, have YOU, checked fluid level? How many miles on car? Have YOU changed diff fluid? |

I can't help with the eLSD problem but my car was doing the same thing where it wouldn't turn off on the first press, it sometimes wouldn't start and say no key detected, changed the battery several times in the course of a couple months. It ended up being a failing Remote Control Door Lock Receiver. It's in the rear decklid.
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...11764-9999.pdf There was a TSB that led me to the correction. Your vehicle isn't part of this TSB but with the symptoms it's pretty likely the problem. With your dealership problem, you could get the service manager involved. If you can duplicate the concern pretty consistently, then see if the service manager or shop foreman will ride with you on a test drive so you can show them what you're talking about. If that doesn't work then get GM corporate involved,. Last edited by bishopts; 02-08-2026 at 09:11 AM. |

Does anyone know if there is a separate module or controller that is for the eLSD? I know you can get a track tune for the eLSD from the dealership so in theory that is something that could be looked at. I have been scouring the corvette forums too, C7 corvettes have a similar eLSD's and I have seen someone who had a similar issue, their issue was damage to a wire harness that goes through the tunnel. The only thing I can think of, is maybe my headers could have done damage to some wires, I hope not though as I made sure the harness on the passenger side was pulled away and was wrapped with heat shielding. I will have to check and see if something happened when I get back home. Another thing I have seen on the corvette forums is a malfunctioning yaw sensor doesn't throw a code, this would explain why the eLSD will do a purge while turning. Still won't explain while this purging happens every time I start the car. Could also be a malfunctioning Chassis control module. Love modern cars but when you have issues, they can be so tough to diagnose.

I did my 2SS non "eLSD" at 505 miles (plenty of break in sludge), 1,500 miles (not much at all) and again at 5,975 miles (looked really good, got one more change at 9,468 miles (looked great!))... Car currently has about 11,500 mile on it at 6 years old... 40,000 miles to the first Diff Oil Change on a car like this seems really, really long to me... My motto I have banged on for 40+ years of being a car owner/self maintainer, growing up in a Auto Shop... "Fluids are cheap, components are NOT..."

Captain, he's saying the fluid was fine when he changed it.
Also, the 1LE has two different diff fluids, one is the standard LSD fluid in the diff itself (I think this is the one you meant), but there is another for the clutch pack in the electronic diff. It's possible that this clutch pack lubricant needs attention, too.

Notice with all of that I never mentioned the stealerships around here. Only took my car there once and that was for a bricked radio other than that they don't touch it. Hope this helps and you get it resolved soon.

Yeah, I took it to the dealership as I figured this might be a tough issue to diagnose with the eLSD being a OEM specific thing but I will reach out to one of those suggestions. Thanks.
