Infotainment Update
I had a 10 minute update on my infotainment. Anyone know what changed or where GM posts update notes? I couldn’t find it.

Funny, I had one one Sunday in my Bolt EV. I haven't started the Camaro in a few weeks. Maybe it has one waiting for a command, too. I couldn't tell what changed in the Bolt.

Maybe they disabled driver's ability to change radio stations, or select audio inputs, unless a passenger is present and you click through a risk acceptance screen? you know, for our safety, and stuff.
Just kidding, but it sounds like something they'd do. Still bitter about being stuck in a folder on my flash drive until i'm in park. |

It could be the updated map program they have been pushing out. I know my maps looks different in my car now. I normally use google maps but its different now.

Maybe an update to stop collecting driving habits as per a recent gov order.

Mine was titled an Onstar update. Really don't care so I deferred it for the max allowable time which was 7 days. As far as the map update goes, updates come via a chip upgrade that you have to buy.

My car indicated that an update was available on Monday. When I got home I allowed it to complete. When I went to take the car out on Tuesday, it indicated that a "TCP" update had been completed. I haven't noticed any changes to the infotainment system, but I only looked at the home screen and music screen. I'll have to take a better look today.

I declined it, thinking if it ain't broke don't fix it. A message came up that I'd need to go to the dealer in the future if I decided to get it. I don't have the nav option in my 2SS, and I opted out of OnStar's data collection. If I am missing anything please let me know.

My 24 did a TDP? update last Tuesday. I never looked it up to see what it did. I may be fuzzy on the acronym.
P. S. It was TCP Last edited by Whoomba; 01-24-2026 at 01:17 PM. Reason: Correction |

Car is stored so don't know if I got it or not, but since I took delivery, I can't recall ever being prompted for an update.
How do these updates come "over the air" anyway? Do our cars connect to wifi? I don't have OnStar but I guess unless you disable the module it still can be transmitting data.

It has a cell radio and OnStar is always talking unless you remove the cell radio module or otherwise disable it hardware wise. Subscriptions dont stop it, just your ability to take advantage of it.

Yes, you have to connect your car to wifi. It's in the settings on the car.

I checked mine today and when I went into settings and forced the update, it said the last time I updated was in 2022, it searched for updates and said I was up to date...
