Introduction and Build thread. 2018 ZL1 Vert "Buddy Love"

Hey everyone, new guy here from South Dakota. Picked up a 2018 ZL1 convertible late September last year. A little bit about myself and a build thread. I like long walks on the beach.....

I came from mostly sport bikes over the last 19 years or so and I'm losing interest in them. I originally was introduced into the car scene a long time ago when I couldn't afford to do anything and never held a job for very long. After a while I went on to bikes because they were cheaper to have fun with. Ill throw some pictures of the various ones of the years. I never stuck with one very long so there was what I would say allot of them for the number of years I have been riding.

Now I'm getting back into cars and I would like to think I will hold on to the car allot longer then any of my bikes. Wife likes convertibles and we have had a couple over the years. NB Miata and a Honda S2000 that I should have never bought because that was problem after problem. I had to rebuild the engine on that because of a rod bearing. Also wanted coil-overs and found out how bad all the bolts can be on an old Honda. Everything was seized, so I had to but some things and replace some bushings. Anyways I wanted a convertible I would enjoy more and I'm not small anymore. One night I was looking around on Facebook marketplace and there was a white ZL1 convertible that was on there. I decided to look around for cars that were closer. First it was a blue 2019 convertible that was a few hours away in Lincoln Nebraska then one closer popped up. Went and checked it out. 2018 with a little over 14000 miles on the odometer. Drove it, liked it and the wife kind of likes it. Honestly I think she was hoping I didn't get approved for the car. Salesman was also trying to warn me that it's a scary fast vehicle and she said "stop, that's making him want it more". The car was trailered in from Gillette Wyoming being pulled with him Ram TRX along with a C7 ZO6 that the guys friend drove behind him. Corvette had over 50,000 miles so I am assuming that's why the Camaro got the trailer treatment. Both the Camaro and Corvette have Lingenfelter kits on them. Safe to say the guy likes his toys. He traded both cars in and ordered a new C8 Corvette. I'd like to think it was a ZR1, I didn't think to ask because I didn't know about the ZR1 and ZR1X at the time.

Well here we are a few months into winter and the car is covered in the garage. Some info on the car.... It was brought into Lingenfelter for what the build sheet calls a 750HP package around 5000 miles and a year after it was new. A year later with a little over 7000 miles it was brought in for the 1000HP package. I'm assuming the 750hp package wasn't enough for the guy and decided to bump it up. I figured I would take a chance on such a modified car since the mileage was pretty low and it's been on the road for another 7000 miles since the last package was installed. The car came with very detailed build sheets down to every nut and bolt basically from Lingenfelter. I don't have a ton of pictures of the car yet.

I did have to order a new fuel pump because that started going out on me. Ordered and was told mid to late February and it actually came in yesterday and will be put on the car next Wednesday and I'm going to have them go over the tune to make sure it's good. I have a few things in the garage waiting on warmer weather to put them on. ZL1 addons rock guards. GM accessories carbon fiber dash insert and carbon fiber auto shift knob. I bought some Camaro all weather floor mats because I don't like the weather tech ones that were in the car but I might also get some Lloyd mats as well. I ordered Apex SM-10 19" wheels for the car. My plan is to leave the Pilot sport 4s tires on the stock wheels for road trips and get some more "fun" tires for the Apex wheels. I also ordered two extra SM-10's to put drag radials on, either 555RII or Mickey Thompson E/T street SS. I will get some more pictures up when I get those parts on the car. That might be all for this year but I am in the process of selling my last motorcycle (2024 Suzuki Hayabusa) so maybe I will add some more goodies to the car before years end.

Over time I do want to do some suspension work. Have a third set of wheels for a drag pack. Do some things to dress up the engine bay a little. Nothing too crazy, lid for the Maggy. Cover for the coolant tank or replace it all together. Not really a whole lot to do under the hood dress up wise until I get use to the power and maybe go all out someday doing the bottom end. Port the blower, maybe some more boost. The valve covers that are on the car now are kind of bland looking. Maybe go wild and get all the TooHighPSI goodies under the hood.

Love the plate!

Based on dyno graph, seems like you could use a higher redline.

Thank you, I was looking at the VS-5RS in brushed clear at first. The wife didn't want "chrome" I decided I didn't necessarily need forged wheels so I saved myself a couple grand going with the flow forged wheels.

Thanks, I never thought about it that way. I just bought the car so I can't take credit in the power department but I'll make more someday and take credit for that when it happens
