Gauge Needle went dark

so I was going to take the beast out the other day, and just like that the speedo gauge needle went dark. the gauge still works as does the tach needle. i tried the dimmer, turning on / off the headlights. but nothing "lights" up the speedo needle. WTH, has anyone had this and resolved?

Could be the LED for the needle died. If you're good a fixing things then you could pull the cluster circuit board out test it and replace the LED. Otherwise you're looking at a new cluster.
