Are C8's prone to transmission issues?

was doing some research on C8's with the news of the new 6.7L coming for it next year and was reading a lot of stuff about issues with the dual clutch transmission. does anyone on here have one and how has the transmission and everything been on it? i know the internet usually makes a few issues into sounding like a big issue.
when do you all think the C9 will come out? 2030?
if gm does not bring the camaro back someday, i may consider vettes in the future years after my camaro gets too old or i am ready to trade. not much else gm currently makes that is sporty, and blackwings cost too much and 4 doors.

Here's a thread from the Corvette Forum. Seems to be the majority of the trans problems were with the Z06 models. I'm a HUGE fan of the Z06s as I've been around a few of them during track days. A tad out of my price range but if I did purchase one I'd get a good extended warranty and then SEND IT!!!

Yes, the C8 does suffer from trans issues. The DCT in it for some reason is less reliable than the DCT in the GT500. Usually GM makes safer transmissions than Ford so I’m kinda shocked this happened. Both are made by tremec which is why I brought up the Ford unit. I’m guessing the Ford usit is significantly beefed up as it has to handle supercharged V8 torque. I’d imagine the trans in the ZR1 is rock solid as that one was made to handle 1000+ torque lol.

Keep in mind, servicing the DCT can get pricey. If you want a C8, just get an extended warranty. If you’re a car guy like me, you’ll get bored of what you have and trade it in before the warranty even expires I bet haha. Enjoy you Camaro for now and good luck with your future C8/C9 purchase! I hope to one day get a C8 Z06 but I don’t see that happening for awhile haha

Yeah I hear you on the car guy thing lol, it is an expensive hobby haha, but better than some other things people spend money on.
I would think GM would make some improvements to the tremec dual clutch if it has some issues. I am going to try to hold on to my SS for a while and see what options are out there in the future. & yeah I like the way the widebody C8's look over the Stingray, something about the stingray side panels around that black hoop area looks off. the Z06 and ZR1 look better.
maybe they will make a new camaro, maybe.
are you confident in that Z06 flat plane crank engine? i know ford had all kinds of issues with theirs. have not heard of any issues yet on the chevy flat plane.

thanks! yeah I am not sold on those dual clutch transmissions! looks like a lot of maintenance and possible issues.
remember the old ford focus dual clutch that had lawsuits lol . those were junk
I prefer a regular automatic, not those dual clutches

I do still want to see how these C8’s hold up. Imo it’s too early to tell. Having said that I am significantly more confident in the FPC of GM than Fords. Not because I think GM makes more reliable engines, but because of the following.

The voodoo I believe blows up because when Ford designed it, they started with a coyote as a base. While the coyote itself is extremely reliable, making changes to it without avid testing was dumb. The coyote was designed to be a cross plane v8.

When GM made the LT6, THEY STARTED FROM SCRATCH. That right there is the difference and why I believe it will last and be a reliable engine. They designed it from the ground up to be FPC, not put an FPC in a CPC engine. This is why it sounds like a Ferrari and the GT350 has a very unique sound unlike anything else. Ford made way too many compromises when designing the voodoo.

They also used a certain version of the LT6 in racing however that version was way less high strung. They were reliable race car engines but keep in mind they made a “measly” 550 HP. So way less high strung than the 670 HP road car version. Still it held up nicely to race car stuff. So I believe in it.

I’m still the type of person that won’t go and buy one unless I have a spare 30k in case mine blows up so it will be a while for me haha.
