ZL1 1LE - Max Front Camber with OEM (DSSV) Setup?
What is the maximum front camber possible with the OEM setup (Multimatic DSSV)?
Last week, a well qualified alignment shop aligned my car and then told me the max front camber they could get is "3.2" (both sides). Another racer at the track told me it's possible to get 3.5 (or more) but there's some fastener that needs to be lossened - ? I want 3.4 to 3.5 because I track my car hard and it understeers at the limit. Also, if 3.2 is the max I would appreciate suggestions of mods necessary to get more camber. |

Yeah, i think mine is closer to -3.5 range. There is adjustment on top and at clevice. Don't recall if there is cam bolt but i know there is location for jack screw.
Although last alignment sheet i can find notes setting of -3.0

Lots of info here on the forums concerning adjusting front camber...beyond what camber plates will do. Here's just a few threads:

Damn. 3 degrees of camber. That must look wild from a visual standpoint!

stock wheels are so wide that even at -3, it fits nice, almost better than as delivered camber where top of tire sticks out quite a bit.

If you slot the top spindle hole a bit more with a debur bit, i.e. the top hole that bolts through the spindle, you can easily get more camber. It takes very little to make a big difference. I'd start at about 0.040 or 0.050 and measure. I went more and wound up with over -4!!!
Its not a big deal though. Just make sure the spindle bolts are properly torqued. Mine held -3.4 fine. |
