Sunroof Camaros have flat roof & non have double bubble

Just learned something new, did not realize sunroof models have a flat roof and non sunroof have double bubble roof.
was watching a video yesterday and they mentioned the double bubble roof and saw mine with the sunroof was flat.
makes sense to fit the sunroof on a flat roof.
i do keep the sunshade open now since it is cool out, lets more light in, been cloudy a lot lately too.

We also lose out in a little headroom inside due to the sunroof, some people have issues with a helmet on the track due to this

Unpopular take I'm sure, but I actually really like the roofline of the non-sunroof Camaros. Gives the car some nice lines up top. One of the reasons I chose no sunroof on mine when I ordered it. Can't go wrong either way, just my opinion.

Same exact thing with me. Dislike the lines with the sunroof. LOVE the lines without.

That's the popular take bro. While I like sunroofs, I also prefer the look without. I also knew when I'd eventually sell my 1LE not having a sunroof would make it easier to sell. As the other guy said it is a big hinderance when you have a helmet on. Folks who are looking for a 1LE to track look for no sunroof.

Not worried about resale value, but I reeeeally like the look of the non sunroof roof. Plus, less to go wrong.. (not that I've had issues with my sunroofs and T-Tops from GM products of the 90's and 00's when they were ~15 years old, in fact they were really solid).

@Mark20242SS the technical term for the non-moonrof style is "reverse mohawk", and yes, it looks a million times better than the flat roof.

I didn't check this box when I ordered my car primarily for this very reason, plus we had the same moonroof in another GM vehicle (exact same part number, too), and I used it maybe twice in 5 years, if that. I will say that we never had an issue with it, the tracks remained clean, it never leaked a single drop and the entire mechanism worked fine till the day we sold the vehicle.

Oh, and the already not-so-spectacular driver seat headroom situation is made 1 1/2 to 2 inches worse with the thick moonroof panel and the flat roof, which means people taller than about 6' won't have enough headroom with a helmet on even in the lowest seat position. I can imagine how much that would suck even at the drag strip, let alone a road course...

Some say having a moonroof opens up the Camaro's interior a bit, which may be true, but getting the light gray interior probably does much more to that end.

T-tops on my 3rd gen were cool. Like the flat black louvers I put over the back hatch. But I ordered my 1SS to reduce weight, so no sunroof and as it turns out I prefer the look too. Didn't have the patience to wait for the 1LE - who knew Chevy would get that serious back then? Not me.

I'll add a vote for preferring the sunroof roofline. Overall I like the lines of the Camaro, but I feel it's a little over-cooked. I mean I've owned two, so I'm not knocking it, but I woulda smoothed out some things! Same feeling with the c7 and c8 too. So. Many. Lines!

My vote, by the time another Camaro came along that fit my wants, sunroof or not, I wasn’t going to be picky. My 3rd Camaro, the first had T-tops (‘83, had it for 21 years w/o issue), 2nd and 3rd both had sunroofs, both were there because I liked the rest of the car. Honestly, I don’t use it that much, but it’s there, if I want to open it (or more like she wants to open it), I have that option. I take good care of the seals, hopefully they will last. Never say never, where I’m at in my life, probably won’t have a helmet on in my Camaro, but I can certainly understand that need for the extra couple inches of headroom for those that track

I agree as well, I like the non-sunroof roof lines...
